I am getting 3M CR70 for the windshield and RE35 for the rest at a cost of Rs 11300. The installation will be done at my door step tomorrow. Mine is a Civic as well.

Done at Sri Balaji Agencies, authorized 3M dealer; Search SIET college on google.. its near to it..

For windshield, they will do it for Rs 5000 (asking 5500) with CR70. I didn't opt for the windshield. RE35 for side and back should be about another 5500.. So its 11,000.. Probably 300 for home service..

From whom you are getting it ?

Just got some new quotes from Sion Koliwada, Mumbai for my i20:
1. SP70 on front & SP50 onsides - Rs.3800
2. RE70 + RE50 - Rs.4800

Two independent shops gave the same quote. Said the films would have the 3M logo & would provide warranty card. Is this a fair price?
They didn't have CR series. Is RE worth the difference in price?

I got the following quotes from my Honda dealer for the front windshield, as well as for the rest of the car

CS 50 - 4000 (VLT 51%, SER 33%)
RE 50 - 4500 (VLT 51%, SER 43%)
RE 70 - 4000

CR SERIES
CR 70 - 6000 (VLT 70%, SER 50%) (For front)
CR50 - 12750 (VLT 50%, SER 56%) (50 on sides, 70 on back, all in one kit)

I am inclined to go for CR series since heat rejection is very high. But 12,750 for sides & rear seems a bit steep. Also, will having a metallic film on all windows screw up my cell phone reception ? Any suggestions on what film should I buy out of the above choices ? How much does a 10% difference in heat rejection make ?

Can someone tell me whether the quotes seem reasonable, or if they are on the higher side, how high are these quotes ? I checked some after-market accessories fitters in Vashi (I live in Navi Mumbai), and was not convinced if the sun-films are original. They all seemed very shady (pun intended) to me. I'd rather pay 10-15% premium and get it fixed at the showroom itself before getting my car delivered, than go to these dealers.

Does anyone know an aftermarket accessories shop of repute in Navi Mumbai / Chembur area that can offer me better rates, while offering genuine goods and acceptable finish ?

Try Mirania (KBK Bros) in Calcutta. They used to do 3M. Dont know current status.

I had been to a place called Bafna cars in Pune. He is such a ridiculous guy to deal with. His attitude was like he is doing a favor to me by selling the stuff. He quoted me 3500 for RE35/50 on sides and then 6000 CR70.

Then I went to Carax and inquired about the same combination. He told me 4500 for RE35/50 and 6200 for CR70. When I asked him why the RE is so costly when other guys are giving it for 3500 he said this is what company has asked them. After I told him about TBhp, the owner greeted me and said lets call 3M guys. He then put the phone on speaker and called up 3M. The 3M guy said 4200/- min for RE35/50. I was shocked as how come Bafna is then giving RE35/50 for 3500? After having a good 20 min chat with Carax owner he said ok to 3500 but then he said I must cross check if Bafna is indeed putting SP instead of RE series. The Carax guys said his shop is completing 1 year by this month end and he will be having many discounts and schemes so if anybody from TBhp is visiting him, mention TBhp to him.

But if you do it at their shop, chances of getting experienced hand during installation could be high.. Especially the rear windscreen is tricky, and one have to keep squeezing the trapped air bubbles out..

Remember to bargain politely.. For me initial quote was Rs 15000, which I could bargain down to Rs 13000.. But felt there was some more room left.. but was kind of busy..
