Good to hear. I have bought the bars but yet to buy the box itself. Postponing due to limited outstation drives. Which specific Farad model was this & how many litres etc.?

Re: Roof box

I have recently installed the Farad Roof Box on my 2016 Duster AWD.

I got the Matte Black 430L called the 'Crub' costing with accessories at a whopping INR48,607/- with 28% taxes included. I had checked the prices with them in March, and was quoted around 42k but as is with all things today, Inflation!

No whistling sound noticed, which was my biggest worry while purchasing the box. Thankfully I haven't had this issue.

Brilliant support by Farad over the phone from Mumbai. Dispatched overnight to UP. These videos shared by them for installation were a great help.

Brilliant, sturdy product that looks fantastic as well. Great purchase since it is interchangeable on other cars as well, so I feel it is quite worth the expense / investment.

Re: Roof box

Has anyone from Hyderabad got the roofboxes installed? I am looking for a shop in Hyderabad where they are selling to get a feel of it myself before ordering online.

Re: Roof box

I happened to pickup a roof box which was listed in TBHP classifield. I now have the box and in need of croos bars for my Suzuki grand vitara ( 2008 model - without roof rails). I dont want to spend a fortune going for Farad, Thule or similar expensive brands.

Any pointers to shops in bangalore where I can get corss bars which fit roofs without roof rails?

Thanks in advance

Looks neat although maybe a little compact compared to the roof length. How much please and from where?

Re: Roof box

I also have some done research. One of the you tubers whom I follow started on a journey from Andhra to Ladakh on his Maruthi echo with roof rack. His car was stopped by police in UP saying that it is not allowed in UP but curtains and tinting is OK. In Punjab, it seems roof rack is OK and curtains and tint not allowed. It looks like different police from various states are interpreting RTO laws in their own way. Also there is confusion if the roof rack is allowed only for yellow number plates and not for white number plates.

Doing a cross country drive with a roof box is impossible in India. This is the reason why I am not using a roof box for my upcoming drive to North and optimizing the luggage to fit inside the car. This is possible if the journey is solo or with just one passenger, but with multiple passengers, this is not possible.

Did the YouTuber mention if he was fined in UP? If yes, how much was he fined?

It’s not interpreting of the law differently. Majority of the rules under MVA comes under Centre government jurisdiction. However, few rules do come State government’s prerogative. They have the authority to change them as per their needs/requirement.

Looks like in the case of “Roof boxes” there have been rules in some states, if someone is challaned for that.

Got the box from Hot Tracks, Bangalore. Paid around 24K about four years ago.

Cross bars from Farad, Mumbai. Cost 12K.

The capacity of the box meets my requirement. Easily takes 3 back packs and a duffel bag.
