Waiting for those pics. I wish I could find someone in Chennai who is authentic and at the same time good enough to do this.

I was in a way expecting that given Honda's ridiculous pricing for its spares and accessories. They are milking the customers like anything.

Hey NC, now I have these controls on my car's steering wheel and it is one of the most convenient mods on my car! I truly love it and still wonder how stingy Honda is, not to provide them by default on the Civic.

Check out the pics and detailed procedure I wrote down for the same.

You have a very beautiful car AceF355 and the audio controls are an awesome upgrade

You make it sound so simple yet I am quite sure that I would not risk doing it myself. Any clues on a professional who could do this for me? I really want these audio controls in my car!

Is there any shop where I can get the steering audio controls install if I can procure them (only if they know what they will be doing)?

Would doing this void warranty?

Re: Modded Honda Civics.

Hey everyone,

I came across three interesting products for the Civic;
1 - An automatic window closer - lock the doors using the remote and if any of the windows are open, they will automatically close. The makers claim that no cutting of wires is required, it is plug and play for the Civic FD. It costs US$ 55 (plus $49 shipping) and is available from Muncom (a marketplace).

Some questions - the reliability of the seller, the price (high shipping costs), anyone know if this will actually work (and how it works?) and whether something like this is already available in India

2 - LED door handles for the Civic - replaces the entire door handles on all 4 doors. Each door handle has two sets of LEDs - Blue/white to be wired to the parking lights and yellow, to be wired to the indicator.

have only seen it at HIDlightsUSA - costs US$ 180 (plus shipping, I'm guessing). Anyone seen anything similar available in India? The concept is good - the blue/white LEDs could also be wired into the dome light - which comes on as soon as you unlock the car using the remote.

check out the video - looks good

3 - the original Type R remote cover for the Civic - saw it on aBay UK (and others cars which use the same shape remote key fob) - though it costs a bomb, for just a piece of plastic - its just the back of the remote, not the front. It'll cost over Rs 1,000 (including shipping to India) - check it here

Question - is this available cheaper anywhere else? Even If I could get the entire shell, including the red logo (my buttons are all worn out now)

They are very much available here. My brother has fitted in his Ritz.
He paid around 2K ( I don't rememeber the exact price) to fit in all 4 windows an year back. All are working fine till date.

Thanks Sushrutha - have not heard of these before

By the ad I saw, it seemed that there would be specific ones for each car.

And do you have an idea about the LED door handles and Type R key fob (I just got my pre-worshipped Civic and have started the mods )

Here's my car - just got the spoiler, got some Type R logos and the reverse sensors, which have just been installed.

Am looking for more stuff - like the Mugen rain guards. any suggestions welcome.

Cheers.

The car looks to be in good condition. Congrats. But please get some rims and a bodykit to go with that spoiler, otherwise it just looks wacky as it is.

Thanks Akshay, yup the car is in excellent condition - I ought to know because I was actively involved in maintaining it myself ... it was my brother's car, he bought it new in 2006 - and I bought it from him

It's only done 25k kms. I've got the reverse sensors and Type R logos installed (will post pics soon).

And yes - am looking for a decent set of alloys and skirts.
First the alloys - 17-inch (I drive only on good roads in Delhi, so I'm good with the harder ride) - still trying to decide which ones to get.

And the skirts - problem is, I don't know which types are available - can anyone inform?

I've seen your car - looks hot (especially the projector retrofits - which I will be asking you about very shortly)

Other planned mods - 17-inch rims, skirts, LED tail lamps

And thanks for the links. R Style - I have just ordered a pair of Mugen logos from them (for the spoiler, since its a replica Mugen) - I believe they're located on the 4th floor of the popular MBK mall in Bangkok. Hoping to make a trip there soon to find out what they have.

cheers.

Re: Modded Honda Civics.

@dynomite,
Is there a colour difference in the rear bumper and the body colour.
Somehow as per the pic, I feel there's a colour difference.

Frankly speaking i'm not a fan of huge spoilers, but it's upto each individual.

Hmm - you're right, it does look like that in the image. Must be the angle of light or something.
