Re: PPF has saved my car once again It really depends on how particular you are about keeping your car scratch free. There are those who swear by PPF, those who swear at it and those like me who really don't care about a scratch or two. After owning three Marutis which, as we all know, tend to ding if you so much as blow on the sheet metal, I've achieved complete peace of mind and possibly an elevated state where things like this don't bother me.
My daily drive is a RWD Thar which is far less scratch prone than my beater, a '08 Swift. This is largely because 2 and 3 wheelers give it a wide berth. Pedestrians tend to not brush against Thars because of the side steps and large bumpers.
However, I recently opened the driver's side door onto a barbed wire fence and managed to put a "character line" on it. Didn't bother me at all and I doubt PPF would have helped.
The 17 year old 2 lac km run Swift remains pretty much scratch free. Of course, I should mention that I have got it painted twice. Far cheaper and more effective than laminating the car.
