Is there a Seat solution for Kia Seltos ?

Hello Team BHP'ians.

I would like to seek your collective wisdom, guidance and better ( If you have a solution to my problem). So I bought a Kia Seltos GTX+ DCT trim last week.
It's been a few days, and my wife has been consistently mentioning that the passenger seat is NOT comfortable. I believe comfortable is subjective, but her reference point has been seating comfort of a Mercedes GLC 200/ Tesla Model Y ( that what we owned for the last 3-4 years before moving to Bengaluru.

My dilemma, I don't know how to address this issue. we tried everything from pillows/ wedges/ contoured memory foam back rests, etc. But she is not finding it comfortable at all. She'd rater sit in Honda Brio (our second car, which is now happily serving parents, in our hometown) than sit in Seltos. To add to the misery the ventilated seats get blocked when using any support or cushion. I am happy to block it if it offers support.

Bretheren and countrymen ( and women) please suggest, in BLR is there any place where I can go and get seats improved (cushoning/ support/ height reduction) or anything.... maybe getting it ripped off and custom built.

Because I fear, she will stop riding with me. A partner of 20 years ain't mucking around with that kind of warning!

So please, take a moment and help a fellow BHP'ian.

ps: Recommendations of car seating / experts in BLR is welcome!

Could you please ask her to write down and describe the discomfort in detail? Things such as back pain, tailbone pain, inadequate underthigh support, knee pain, and a whole lot of other things may be happening. Just a mention of discomfort isn't enough - it could well be a sharp pin or needle embedded in the seat that's poking her.

Yes sir, I did. It is inadequate lower back support and 'hugging' from the sides. Which is leading to discomfort. I don't think it's anything stinging.

I'm thinking, a new seat needs a few weeks to break in, is what it is However, keeping the options open to explore any engineered solution too!

Please ask her to lower (recline) the seat back one or two notches from her usual position, and make sure she's seated with her lower back fully in contact with the backrest. It's quite a surprise how much more comfortable one can be with a minor seat adjustment, so try these little changes before undertaking major surgery to the seat or even replacing it.

I felt similar challenge on both, the passenger and driver seats of our Seltos. This was my solution as well.

Can understand the importance of a comfortable seat - and one would be surprised how many cars have not-comfortable seats. It's almost like manufacturers have collectively decided not to give proper lumbar support in their car seats. Side support/bolster is more possible in wider cars, and the Seltos (like our Maruti's) are regular width cars.

the break-in for seats is not applicable, IMO. The cushion will get compressed with time.

One option - go to Good seat cover guy to get some lumbar support. And get them to use higher density foam.
Get After-market seats - Recaro etc.

This thread was brought to my notice by @Sheel.

I owned the previous generation GT Line Seltos Petrol which I adored every bit but had to sell due to unforeseen circumstances. As luck would have it, I got an opportunity to get the new GT Line when it was launched and picked up the unit without any test drive. This is where I faltered big time. Kia has done something to the vehicle's suspension which will only come to light if you have a back problem.

No amount of fixing, tweaking, adjusting or praying will help. People generally live with such issues but I could not, probably because I am too choosy and have an uncompromising nature.

I could not bear it and so had to get rid of the vehicle.

Just my two cents.

Thanks, fellow BHP'ians! I will try the adjustment route (and bribing too). Will report back once I have something viable!
