I use Zeiss drive safe

Baleno initially (2017) came with pre-tinted (UV cut glass - Maruti speak) in Zeta & Alpha variations. Now Baleno, Fronx & XL6 top end comes with UV cut glasses. May be Grand Vitara also, I'm not sure.

It does cut out some heat. I don't have the data, but friends travelled in my Baleno mentioned that they don't feel the burning of harsh south TN sun when sunlight falls on their shoulders inside the car. I always feel the difference when I sit on other cars.

I do wonder why people are not demanding / car makers not giving priority to this feature. Instead of sunroof, this should be the top most priority for our climate conditions.

Yes, you would have to replace the FastTag, RTO Tag and any RWA Stickers you may have pasted on your windshield in most cases, just like how you would have to if you chip/crack your windshield.

But there are options where the film can be installed on the outside. Doubles down for rock chips, UV Protection & Heat Reduction.

While instal, one can cut the film to accommodate stickers like FastTag.

I’ve got my FastTag fit over the film, and it works fine.

I would think installing Sun-film on the outside is a bad idea! The glass will offer much better protection to stones and whatnot, not so much the film which will get scratched. I don’t think sunfilm is liken PPF, or Glass Protection Film!

Re: Solar Shield Sunfilm Review and all you need to know about Sunflims

Going through this thread and another similar for sunfilm I took a leap of faith going for this brand with the shared contact. Turned out to be a nightmare. Installation was done at home itself but the way the installer handle the door panels roughly damaged the clips. He didn’t even bring the required tools so used a screw driver to roughly bend the panels and clips to insert back the removed parts. Please see the image and the door panel is not even getting locked. Now there is lot of vibrations, and rattle noise disturbing my ride. Next coming to the film all I can see are air lock bubbles. Please refer the images. In person it actually looks more clear and not only on the highlighted part but in the entire part of the film. Strongly advise against this brand. Please go to a reputed studio/detailsr and get ur sunfilm done. I will tear this off and also have to replace both my door panels. Huge loss of money and no peace of mind cause a new car is damaged

Re: Solar Shield Sunfilm Review and all you need to know about Sunflims

There can be a a few air bubbles that form during installation, but they all have to disappear one or max two days after install.

If they are still there after 2 days, ask for a replacement.

The brand is good and won’t deny you a replacement. The installer may have done things wrong.

Most of them have disappeared after 2 days but still there are many air bubbles and dust .Film does perform well. Went for a Pondy trip and it was depressing. So much rattling and whistling. There were some rubber parts cut and fallen off. The way the installer used blade for cutting the film itself was very scary. No patience and was least bothered where it’s placed. I am guessing the rubber parts which is for sealing the door corners are cut causing air to whistle at high speeds. I am now least bothered about film and its performance. Have to some how fix this rattling and whistling. Not sure if this is the right thread to seek help on this matter. As I am new I won’t be able to post a new thread. Really need team BHP help in fixing the rattling and whistling noise. Should I ask ASC to replace door panel and complete sealing ?

Re: Solar Shield Sunfilm Review and all you need to know about Sunflims

Rubber parts cut from where? Door sealing? Why would the installer cut rubber from the door or cut anything for that matter but the film?

Looks like it’s been a bad install. Let me send you the solar shields head man’s number by private message. He will help you out! Check your private message.

All four internal corners of the window. Have attached an image for your reference. After they left I saw straight thin line of rubber on the floor. Thanks for sharing the contact but not sure what Amol or the dealer can help with other then just saying sorry. Film I am going to use it as it is with some bubbles and dust which can be ignored since the performance is noticeably good. Now real fixing required is with rattling, vibrations and whistling sound. Completely spoils the fun out of driving the car. Feels like a 10 or 20 years badly used and maintained tata taxi. Going to try my luck with VW ASC to check and if required replaced damaged parts which can be door panels and the rubber corners. I am just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it’s just the door panels misaligned and a refit should fix it

Re: Solar Shield Sunfilm Review and all you need to know about Sunflims

I gave it to service center where they found the door panels to be not aligned properly to those rails that was pulled roughly and some clips were damaged. They assured issue has been solved by fixing both panels and replacing the damaged clips but after taking the car for a long ride the issue still exists in the left door. Even in a smooth road while cruising at any speed be it 30 or 80kmph there is vibrations and noise. Also now after service I hear some rattling sound from center console as well. More concerned on the left door noise issue and don’t know what to do next? Should I try a different ASC or try my luck outside? The sunfilm installer also is ready to help but afraid to give the car to him. I definitely need this sound to be fixed else I will completely loose interest in driving and my car

Solar shield sunfilm- My nightmare experience

I want to share my experience with home installation offered by solar shield sunfilm platinum series Teal 70. Seems like they have sent an installer from a road side shop. Now my brand new vw Taigun is never the same due to the rough handling by the installer. He never brought the required tools and used screws driver to roughly bend the door panels to insert the beadings which was never required to be removed in the first place. So much rattling from the doors which the ASC were able to fix to a certain limit after refitting the panels. Installation of the film is also pathetic with so much bubbles which you can see in image. All four windows are like this. Please be careful to who you give the car for any after market fittings

Re: Solar Shield Sunfilm Review and all you need to know about Sunflims

Few months back a heavy concrete slab fell on my car's windshield. Because of the sunfilm the glass didn't shred much and spread inside the cabin. With summer setting in Need to look for replacement. Will consider solar shield.

They say Solarshield is an American brand but I don't see any US website for them. Only an Indian one.
