Tuning My BMW 320d GT

Hey BHPians. Hope you’re all doing great. I’ve always been stuck on to the fact that my 3GT didn’t feel as special I thought it should when it came to the driving and performance part. I’ve loved the car otherwise, in every other aspect, but when it came to the performance standpoint, I always felt it could do better. As an owner of already 2 remapped diesels, I always had hidden agendas to get my 3 series tuned, but always hesitated as I always felt it wouldn’t make much of a difference. But it’s only human to plunge and come up with a conclusion that gives you closure. So one day I decided to just get a simple stage 1 ECU remap alone, no TCU or any hardware mods, but just a simple ECU remap. So I decided to call up a friend and had asked him for a suggestion on where to get started. He suggested to me, Redox Tuning, which was already a well renowned tuning firm in Kerala and GCC, and was already doing a great of deal of cars and were renowned for their reliable builds. So we spoke and decided that we needed a stage 1 ECU remap alone. The next day we went to the dealer of Redox Tuning in Coimbatore, which is Likwid Tuning, which already again is a well established tuning firm that deals with different kinds of tunes and also specialises in their in house hardware and custom works. So I drove my car to Likwid tuning, and after taking the read of the ECU, the new file was flashed. The car was finally remapped.

The difference between the stock and tuned avatar of the car alone amazed me as it was day and night. There was about a second difference on the 0-100 and 1/4 mile timings of the car, from stock to tuned. The throttle response was much stronger, the car pulled much better, the low end grunt and mid range also improved beyond expectations, and not to mention, the fuel economy also increased by a noticeable margin under sedate driving. The car behaves pretty much the same in the ‘ECO PRO’ mode, retaining the calm nature and also pretty fuel efficient. But once in ‘COMFORT’ mode it starts showing difference in the way the car behaves, it pulls stronger, and is evident, but when it’s slotted to ‘SPORTS+’ mode, it completely changes into a different animal, the car just keeps pulling and doesn’t run out of breath, and is pretty exhilarating, from low end to all the way to top end.

I’m absolutely delighted with how the car is performing right now and I’m sure that more upgrades are coming on the way. Looking at how the car is performing just with a stage 1 ECU remap, I’m thrilled to see what this engine is truly capable of in the further stages. I’m attaching the DRAGY reports of stock and tuned.

Re: Tuning My BMW 320d GT

A full 1 second improvement in 0-100 times is pretty wild. Thank you for posting draggy reports instead of just claiming random hp/torque figures like everyone else does.
