It was available at much competitive pricing during the Republic day sale (less than 700 for a pack of 36) Very much VFM but not efficient as the branded stuff.

Re: Microfiber Towels in India (best for detailing)

I bought a pack of microfiber car cleaning cloth by Goodyear some time ago along with another 3M microfiber. Though Goodyear pack, which consists of one microfiber, one glass cleaning microfiber and one detailing cloth, is easily surpassed by 3M's great effectiveness. The cleaning & water absorption of 3M is better than most microfibers I have used.

Thanks!

Re: Microfiber Towels in India (best for detailing)

Got the soft spun microfiber towels (5 nos.) from amazon for Rs. 315. Seems to be good quality. Yet to use and see how it performs.

Thanks for the alert. By the time I saw this, the price was further reduced to ₹630/-. I have used Amazon Pay and so the effective price would be just ₹580/-. At just a shade above ₹16/- per piece, things can't possibly get cheaper than this.

Would a MF cloth that costs so less be good and worthy of being used on our cars? Even it isn't, one can always use it for generic household chores. Given that a half decent kitchen wipe from reputed brands costs five times the price of this towel, it is indeed a good deal.

By the time I saw your post and ordered it the price had reduced to Rs 622.50.

As of now the price has reduced even further to Rs 599. Anyone who wants to buy it might be worth waiting for another couple of days. The price may reduce to Rs 550

I have received it already and as expected they are very thin and thinner than the ones which I currently use, the likes of Formula 1, Armor All and 3M. So, like you said I may use it mainly for interior cleaning and other household items. Also, I have already provided couple of clothes to my wife for kitchen usage and she is happy .

I know it would be difficult to answer this question, but how thin are the towels? Are they too handkerchief like? Where do they stand on the water absorption part?

Re: Microfiber Towels in India (best for detailing)

I bought too. They may arrive today. At the price, I'm thinking that microfibre rags are going to be superior to any-old-cloth rags, even if the latter are free.

There is not necessarily a need for thickness in a microfibre cloth. It is the micro serrations (if that is the right word) in the fibres that do the work. Eg, they lift grease off a surface, even without chemicals, when other cloths just spread it around.

For picking up large amounts of dirt (best removed from car paint with a hose) or absorbing water, though, thickness should be a virtue. For polishing also, thick certainly feels better.

... Mine just arrived. Opening pack now

pack opened:

OK, these are like what I used to get eg five (or more) for a GB pound back in London fifteen years ago. They should be great for general wiping up and cleaning. Probably not so much for drying a whole car. By the way, I still have some of those really old cloths doing household duty!

When I said thin, it is not as thin as a Handkerchief. I was slightly wrong in my assessment earlier, now that I have checked it along with my existing MF clothes. They are as good as the Armor All ones, which I got 3 clothes for approx. 200 sometime back, however the Abro-CT and Formula 1 clothes which I use are certainly better than this AmazonBasics.

This is made of 90% Polyester and 10% Polyamide, while the Abro-CT and Formula 1 ones are made up of 80% Polyester and 20% Polyamide and that may explain the thickness.

Re: Microfiber Towels in India (best for detailing)

Bit the bullet and ordered these now. Price was 586 and after cash back will cost me 536. Not a bad deal at all. Hopefully, they would be good enough for day to day cleaning of my cars. Will review after getting them tomorrow.

Re: Microfiber Towels in India (best for detailing)

Which of the cloths are good quality? Are there any better ones than 3M? I clean all my 3 cars myself and need to add on to the first damp cloth wipe I do. Have found that using only one for wet wipe per car is insufficient, by the time bonnet and front doors are done the cloth is dirty.

Re: Microfiber Towels in India (best for detailing)

Just use as many as you need.

Expensive ones will be better finished. Sometimes they are more effective, sometimes a cheaper one will work just as well.

I've been a microfibre fanboy for years: most of my cloths and towels are cheap ones.

I use 4 cloths per car for past two years.
1 for first wet wipe (now this will be 2 cloths for wet wipe as I bought a lot today from CARZ SPA, one each for front & rear half. Feel and texture of this one seems quite good, not put to use yet.)
1 for dry wipe which is used immediately after the wet wipe.
1 for all glass areas.
1 for interior.
All colour coded obviously.

I haven’t found much difference between 3M and SOOBY, both lots bought from the ubiquitous e-commerce websites.
