Well Sir, were u referring to that old man as 'it' ? Hope that was a typo.

The simplest solution is to get a cushion and sit on top of that. It is not worth spending 15 or 20K on a new seat just to get the height corrected. (Just my opinion) Try a cushion first.

Unless you want to keep adjusting the height all the time (multiple drivers), you dont really need a height adjustable car seat.

Cant you just add more foam/dunlop/cushion to existing seats itself ?
A visit to one of the shops where they do 'car seats' would help.

If it is just about adding 'height', a 2 inch padding on top of the current seat in the exact shape, and then custom seat covers should work, and also 'look fine'.

I did the same on the santro.
But my problem was to have better 'contoured seats'. Height wasnt a problem.
Santro's seat is too upright and the seats were flat/hard.
It did help to an extent, but honestly I am not entirely happy with the contour bit still, and am looking what else I can do on it.
I liked the shape/angle/contour on the zen quite a bit and was used to it.

Re: Is it possible to fit seat height adjustment as an accessory/aftermarket?

Hi all. I have a swift vdi abs and have the same kind of pain in calf muscle right below the knee on right leg.I spoke with ABT Trichy about fitting swift zxi or dzire zxi driver swift in my swift vdi abs. They told that they tried this on another swift vdi and was not able to do it and the seat is still there with they without being sold out to anyone. So I guess the only option is to add something to the existing seat or remove the seat and add additional bolts when fitting the seat back between the seat and the base where the seat is fitted on the floor. I am not sure of the cost of the swift zd
xi or dzire zdi driver seat though. Will post after doing my planned mod on the driver seat and checking out the results of that.

Modifying the Hyundai Accent for shorter people (Height adjustable seat?)

Hi,

I own a Hyundai Accent and wanted to know if it is possible to replace the driver-side seat with a height-adjustable option.

My driver of many years is well below the average Indian height at approximately 5 feet or so. The current seat forces him to stoop forwards to see over the dashboard, while placing a cushion makes effectively reaching the pedals a problem.

The only solution that comes to my mind is a height-adjustable seat or some way to modify the pedals so they can be reached easily in a stock seat raised by means of a cushion.

It would be appreciated if someone could let me know if this were possible and, if yes, where I could get it done in Mumbai with an approximate cost.

Regards,
Aditya

Re: Modifying the Hyundai Accent for shorter people (Height adjustable seat?)

Old Accent variants (GLX & GTX specifically) came with driver's height adjustable seats. I know this for sure because our 2001 Accent GLX had this feature.

http://www.cybersteering.com/cbmain/...accentglx.html

It'd be worthwhile checking with Hyundai A.S.S about it and whether it can be implemented on your Accent. It will also depend on how enthusiastic the Hyundai A.S.S is. For e.g when I enquired from Hyundai workshop about fitment of electrically adjustable mirrors and digital clock in the Hyundai Accent Executive, one Hyundai workshop said it can't be done, whereas the other said both jobs can be easily done but will be a bit costly.

Re: Modifying the Hyundai Accent for shorter people (Height adjustable seat?)

I forgot to mention that I asked the Hyundai service centre before posting here, they said they don't provide dual height adjustable drivers seats anymore and would be unable to help me.

An old 2007 post on these forums for a similar query (for a Swift) listed the seat at about Rs.40,000. I was kind of expecting it to be somewhere nearer to 20,000 .

Hopefully there is an after-market solution that fits the bill.

Re: Is it possible to fit seat height adjustment as an accessory/aftermarket?

I know it has been some time since the last post on this thread, but wanted to check if anybody using the old Swift had managed to put in a ZXI seat in a VDI or VXI.

I am keen to know since I am 6 ft 2 in tall and using a VDI since 2008. Now, I keep getting pain in either my left knee or tail of my spine.

Hoping a seat height adjustment will help.

Thanks,
Krishna

Re: Is it possible to fit seat height adjustment as an accessory/aftermarket?

Hi All,

I'm 6'4" tall and the driving position on my TUV 300 T8 with the adjustable seat height cranked up to the max is only nearly ok.

I saw this seat height increase done on a TUV in a different forum by a tall gentleman.

Is it possible to fit seat height adjustment as an accessory/aftermarket?-cad23837de4fb0f1f128e690d0bf2afc.jpg

Is this safe to do? Please don't mind this silly query but as much as I'd love to get the same modification done, my worry is that everything hinges on that 2 inch aftermarket riser used here. Who knows how solid it'll be? If it gives way one fine day, it could result in a crash. Or am I over thinking it here? Please advise.

Same issue with the new Thar and a 6'1" me.
No under-thigh support. I reckon doing this to the front mount positions alone should suffice. Will speak to a fabricator if someone can approve of this idea.

Re: Is it possible to fit seat height adjustment as an accessory/aftermarket?

Go the scrap market in your city and buy the whole seat assembly with height adjuster from a scrapped/ totalled car and install it on your car. Would cost you less and you will get the seat of the top end trim of TUV

Re: Is it possible to fit seat height adjustment as an accessory/aftermarket?

My itemized response -

1. I've done this whole seat scene in my last thar - put a civic seat at the back. Very pleasant.
2. How will this arrangement benefit the new Thar? The seat has height adjustment in it already. I'm more keen on tilting it backwards a bit. Also, a single TUV seat may look out of place.

Alternatively I'll find a way to get two captain seats if it's a worthy upgrade. You suggestion are very welcome!

Edit - I think you answered the OP's question and not mine =)
