How do I rain-proof my car's interiors?

Tried searching but couldn’t find this topic

Looking for help on two topics

1. How do I prevent water from seeping into the power windows and OVRM adjustment assembly. In Mumbai rains, it’s enough time for water to seep into those depression around the switches while you open the door, close your umbrella, slide in and close the door. Thinking of DIY solution to stick plastic food wrapping sheet around the panel but is there a better solution?

2. I’ve got Alcantara seats in my car but the question will also help others with fabric seats. How do I protect my seats from wet cloth. I’m about to order these plastic cover but want to know of there are better options.

This is for the Kodiaq?

You don't need to worry about this. The OEMs know a little water drip in that area is inevitable, when the door is opened & shut in the monsoons. Never once faced a problem in 30 years of owning cars.

Alcantara is fake / synthetic leather and can handle the occasional wetness just fine. Heck, it's used on motorcycle seats!

Don't get plastic covers. They will look & feel ugly.

Go out for a long drive this weekend and enjoy the lush, green mountains

Thanks GTO.

Yes this was for my Kodiaq. Was just concerned that water may ruin the electronics assembly. Great, will leave it as is

Regarding the seats, my Honda City’s has taken 7 monsoons well with its leather seat. Since this suede / alcantara is absorbent, was concerned about its odour. My 18 months Kodiaq still smells like new want to maintain that.
Another solution could be just tuck in a similar Color (dark grey) towel

To absorb moisture within the car, I found this product to be both affordable and effective. If your area has incessant rains (Mumbai), I would suggest you to buy two and keep one in front part while the other can be kept somewhere securely in the rear.

And if the region in other cases is not very rainy, humid or moist only one can be bought to be kept in the front area within the passenger compartment.

I have been using them since three years now. Post monsoon it needs to be disposed of. Its essentially silica gel I believe and water from the moisture impounded accumulates in the lower part of the moisture absorber that is visible to us.

It's available on Amazon.

And as GTO has rightly said car needs to be run and also parked in the sunshine from time to time.

Don’t worry about it. A little water is fine. My Octavia hasn’t had any issues related to water ingress.

But what I do after a rainy drive sometimes is run the heat at max with the sunroof open for the last 2 minutes in my garage. 10 minutes in total gets the interior nice and toasty.

Also, get silica gel packs. I leave a load of them in my cars which I know are not going to go out much during monsoon.

As @GTO and others have rightly suggested, don't worry about the few drops of rain on the door switches and seats, enjoy the monsoon.

Also, you will notice, when you give your car for pressure washing, the guy will open the doors and give a through wash on the sills under the door and hinges, and some splash will land on the switches and seats, which are cleaned after the wash.
