Re: My VW Polo 1.6 MPI with Cobra Lowered Springs

UPDATE

So after almost a year of running on the Cobra Lowered Springs + Sachs Struts, I decided to try a different set up - Euro Spec Springs + Sachs Struts.

The reason for this change was that even though I tried my best to get used to the Cobra Lowered Springs, they just didn't seem to give me that level of satisfaction in terms of ride and handling. The major contribution to this outcome is the Mumbai roads. Almost every bump was felt and the car just did not feel confident at higher speeds.

After a bit of research, I came across the Euro Spec Spring Kit for the VW Polo. I was not sure of the outcome and it had a steep price as well but decided to take a chance with it.

The outcome was fantastic! The car was higher than the Cobras but I believe still around 10 mm or so lower than the stock set up. The car definitely does not have that low look anymore but I honestly do not care as it now drives just the way I like it. The ride is stiff no doubt; stiffer than stock, but not uncomfortable like the Cobras. It is nice and tight with no vibrations sent to the cabin over undulations or bad roads. The car holds the road well at high speeds and glides over undulations on the road. The steering is a bit tighter than it was but I believe it is because of the harder bushes which came with the kit and which I believe will ease out after a couple of kilometers of driving and after the suspension has settled in. I feel the stance is more balanced as well now as compared to stock.

Re: My VW Polo 1.6 MPI with Cobra Lowered Springs

Hey @Epic, I have been looking for something like this for a while, I enquired with Cobra/Ebach/MTS etc all have minimum 25/30mm drop. Didn't want to go for lowering spring exactly for the reasons you mentioned. Please share more details about it like make, model nos, where you got it and possibly cost.

Hi. I got the kit from TuneOTronics, Bangalore. Pricing is upwards of 70k for the kit.

Oh Wow 70k! I was expecting Eibach level pricing.. may be little bit more. Can you share more details like manufacturer, part no etc also any links you may have, so I can do some research on it.

I'd love to compare the difference in ride quality between this and my Sachs + stock spring setup!
I've been heavily contemplating getting lowering springs, but have received many mixed opinions about the same.

GTI Body Kit and Custom Exhaust

Mods : Request to change the thread title to 'Modifications on my VW Polo 1.6 MPI'

So the recent upgrade has been cosmetic as well as performance oriented which was the addition of a GTI Body Kit and a performance exhaust.

The GTI kit included the front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts and spoiler. I also added a 3 fin rear diffuser just for kicks.

I also decided to upgrade the exhaust system with a free flow from non other than Auto Mech Engineers.

There is definitely an increase in throttle response, pick up and I feel a noticeable amount of power increase as well.
