Apart from the mirror, what is the plan for the window itself ? I have recently applied the film on my mirror, but I still have water on the window glass. I am currently trying the sprays that I got from Aliexpress, but not able to check much since I have not driven in rains sufficiently.

Rain-X is said to be good. You could try it for the rear glass.

Rain-X is good during the day but at night had noticed the light gets scattered from cars behind.
Maybe due to improper application but had tried out both interior and exterior versions of the same and had the same result.

This is exactly what I was talking about although the accessory guy nearby didn't mention anything about the same for the windows. He had mentioned the cost is about RS 200 for a pair used for the ORVM's. Plan to get the same this week itself.

re: Rain repellent - how effective is this?

I have bought it from local shop and initial impressions were good.. so went ahead and ordered a bunch in banggood.in

Well, That was really a bad decision as within 5-8 days of driving in rain, the effect got over and water started to sit on the plastic.

I will post the pictures shortly.

How long do these films last? A month? An entire monsoon season? or 2?

Also, can they withstand the regular washing/wiping treatment our cars undergo every morning or are they likely to be peeled / scrubbed off soon after? Will regular washing/wiping reduce the effectiveness significantly?

That film was just an experiment. Have removed it. Will get back to Rainex this monsoon.

Re: Rain repellent - how effective is this?

Hi, any new or old products that anyone can recommend based on usage. Asking as the thread is nearly two years old.

The rains have started here in Kolkata and am having trouble navigating as ORVMs aren’t visible coz the side glass as well as the ORVMs have rain drops all over.

Help a brother out in Bangalore too. This misty, non-stop rain that we’ve been experiencing for last two days is extremely irritating.

RainX or Mirror/glass film or Tobacco or Newspaper? What works better?

I applied Turtle ClearVue, procured from Amazon, and it does work well. But not sure of the longevity of the product, as the effect seems to wear off soon. Jury is still out on this one.

I tried out ClearVue recently, but only on my front windows and ORVMs. The result was quite satisfactory but it lasted only 3 days from the day of application. By the fourth day, the water was sticking like a film to the glass again, just as it was before the application.

Longevity of these glass repellants depend a lot of application. I'm currently trying out clearvue as well, Its been a month and its still as good as day 1. I have previously used proper glass coatings, it was good on my windsheild for almost 5 years (!!) and still going strong on my side glasses in almost 7 years.

Thanks for quoting. Had forgotten this.

One needs to reapply periodically. Especially if you use your wipers extensively as it removes the costing.

Had tried various levels of coating (single , double and triple layers) and I now plan to apply a single layer and then keep reapply it after a rain drive. Best part is that you do not need too much of it for a full pass (iny Hyryder).

True. Needs periodic re-application.

What coating is that? And cost?
