Have to buy dealer-forced accessories | Which ones should I pick?

Hi,

I need to buy 15k accessories from Pavan Hyundai (Bangalore), they expedited my delivery and hence want to ensure I give them this business.

I am aware that I can buy the same accessories outside for half the price.

Been waiting for my car for a long as hence dont want to hassle for 15k.

Any recommendation for accessories which are absolutely useful and must buy, regardless of whether I buy it from Hyundai or outside.

Thanks!

Sun visors for the 4 windows.I have them on my car and I find them very useful when driving in rain. I can keep the windows open a bit without worrying about rainwater entering into the cabin

Floor mats

Underbody coating.

Mud flaps, body cover, underbody coating (if less than 3K), blind spot mirrors are mandatory for me. You don't need the sun blinds yet as it's already monsoon. Also, please get the flooring done water proof and some nice floor mats (7D recommended).

Apparently, all sticking stuff is having some quality issues and therefore they are not suggesting this and others similar stuff. I had this in mind.

Body Cover? I have a Basement Parking and use my car often. Is this really required?

Underbody coating, anti-rust they are quoting Rs 4300. Any other coating comes?

Lamination flooring, they are quoting Rs 8k.

Floor Mat Premium - Rs 2920

Might go for Anti-rust and Lamination Flooring as I have 15k to fill.

Why don't you first get a list of OEM / official dealer accessories.

The easiest:

- Mud flaps
- Floor mats (you can check the 3D ones)

What variant have you booked? Is there any feature you can add at the dealer end? Eg. fog lamps, electrochromic IRVM, electronic ORVM etc. (if available)

The lamination flooring will essentially put a laminate over the entire floor board, isn't it. Will advise against this - it will block the drain plugs on the floor board that would help drain any accumulated liquid.

Buy Door Visors, mudflaps, floor mats, Chrome accessories, sun shades for use after monsoon. Buy genuine Hyundai accessories, Yes you can get accessories in aftermarket as well but Genuine items are far superior and long lasting than after market ones. In my opinion do not go with floor lamination your car's air conditioner cannot remove humidity under floor carpet and will accelerate rusting over time. Choice is yours. Thanks.

Floor lamination is essentially a floor padding made of PVC. It prevents water coming into the car, especially during high and heavy rains.

I had faced this last year when a lot of water entered my car and a lot of the carpet become wet. Had to put in sunlight for many days. Hence considering it.

I am not sure which variant but for accessories to be chosen with dealer, I would suggest any electrical accessories as you will have peace of mind on warranty.

Other non electrical accessories, you will be better off outside due to the range of options and cost.

All the best for your new car.

It's top-end model, hence accessories options are limited.

They have 360-degree camera, quoted at Rs 33k. Not sure how good the calibration would be, though very tempted to get it either from Hyundai or outside.

re: Have to buy dealer-forced accessories | Which ones should I pick?

I would advise against paying for these accessories. These are merely arm twisting tactics by the dealers to earn extra. They take advantage of the customers lack of patience. I understand that the waiting times for Creta are insanely long, but by bowing down to the whims and fancies of the dealers we will only embolden them to keep raising these unjust demands. Who knows, one day we might hear about a dealer charging 1L extra for expedited delivery becoming the norm across the industry. We all know how sticky these extra payments are (Remember the "handling charges" scam that is still ongoing despite orders from authorities/court).

I strongly urge you NOT to bow in front of the dealer and acquiesce to his demands.

By the way, congratulations for the new car.

re: Have to buy dealer-forced accessories | Which ones should I pick?

Since I have been using the Creta for 7 years now, the most important accessory would be the "EXTENDED WARRANTY" .

If you have the option of getting under this, try to get it in case you plan to use the car for long. The electronics can cause a lot of problems down the line.

Other than that, invest in good floor mats (Don't skimp on this). Then do underbody coating (make sure the silencer is coated as well as that can rust easily). Good pair of sun blinds (Those magnetic ones are really good). Dashcam (this can be expensive).

Oh sure, an extended warranty is a no-brainer.
Which floor mats are you using for your Creta?

Sun blinds you mean for the windows or for front and rear windshield?

Purpose of dashcam?

I use mats from Ford. Saw them when I went for a test drive and bought it. But suggest you get those 4D-7D mats which is a snug fit.

Sun blinds for the window. I also use a front blind when I park the car outside.

Dashcam can be useful in any tricky situation. Can be useful in Bangalore with those taxis and autos.

We recently purchased a Creta. Our dealer flatly refused for any electrical accessories like 360 cam and front parking sensors because according to him, Hyundai has asked dealers not to install any such electric accessories in the car. Please check with the dealer that this does not void any type of warranties etc.
