I am not clear if it is the dealer who want you to buy from them, or if you want to buy from them as a return favor for them expediting the delivery of your car.

If former, you can stand your ground - unless you have paid excess

If latter, your call.

Either way, you are not bound to buying stuff from them that you dont need. However, a lot depends on if they have any excess money of yours.

Dealer is insisting.

I am looking at this way, 15k accessories if I buy outside I will pay 7.5k. So I am paying 7.5k for expedited delivery.

If you are ok with that, then fair play.

Just out of curiosity, how much is the delivery being expedited by, and how much have you already waited? Were you allotted a car (VIN) early in your waiting period, and are you being given the same vehicle?

Just curious as to whether they've actually expedited your delivery or the vehicle just happened to arrive early and they are now using these tactics to squeeze more money out of you.

I had booked Sonet and creta with 2 other dealers.
Sonet was booked in Sep’21 and Creta in Apr’22. Both had promised delivery in 4-6 weeks but no update unless I asked.

This dealer I had casually inquired but didn’t book. They called me saying one booking got canceled and if I was interested. From that call to vehicle been shipped was less than a week.

VIN number was same what they allotted when it was shipped and when I did the PDI.

SA was regularly updating me at every step. Have been transparent in all their dealings so far. They told me honestly where they can make money and where they can’t.

If you're planning to keep the car longer than 5 years avoid floor lamination. It will trap moisture under it and cause your floor panels to rust. This process will take a long time though. If you're planning to sell it off after a few years, lamination is convenient

As a first owner, I wont. As a buyer of a used car, I will avoid a car with lamination. And I am sure I am not the only one

So, my suggestion to OP - avoid the lamination completely.

This was insightful, regarding the moisture aspect. Probably will go for a 7D Mat instead.

Re: Have to buy dealer-forced accessories | Which ones should I pick?

As many have suggested, please avoid floor lamination. I did the mistake of heeding to my dealer's sales pitch and got it done on my i10 Nios, only to regret the decision pretty soon.

I say so because of the following reasons:
1. They use some crude fevi-kwik like glue to stick it on top of your factory floor carpet. I am not sure if everyone does it this way, but mine was stuck on very crudely.

2. Floor mats do not grip at all on top of the laminate and they keep on sliding around. This can get really irritating. You also cannot install 7D mats over the laminate.

3. You will lose access to the drain plugs on the floor, and if water somehow enters between the floor and the laminate, then it is going to give you some real trouble in the form of rust.

Because of all these reasons, within 2 months of delivery, I went back to the dealer and asked him to remove the laninate. And when they did, I realised the way they had installed it in the first place. I then bought 7D mats from Coozo and they've been holding up pretty well over the past few months. I would advise you to go with 7D mats as well, as they offer good coverage and you can remove them easily for cleaning or for checking the floor.

Other than a good dashcam, I can't really think of any other accessory that will be necessary and doesn't spoil the aesthetics of the car.

I would recommend a boot mat (most OEMs don't provide this) and if you are lucky you will get one fitted to the exact shape of your boot rather than a generic rectangle

Re: Have to buy dealer-forced accessories | Which ones should I pick?

So, did you make a final list after all.
And, did you get the vehicle ?

My lists as below :-
1. Safety belt pad.
2. Blind spot mirror
3. Curtains - side, front and back
4. Mud flaps
5. Floor Mats
6. Under body coating
7. Silencer coating

The above ought to cover 15 K and some.

Dashcam is a must, but dealer won't have it.
Also TPMS, if not already a feature of the vehicle.

Re: Have to buy dealer-forced accessories | Which ones should I pick?

Congratulations on your new car to be. I could have given better suggestions if you had mentioned the car and variant. However I think the following are important:

1. Dash cam: Should be your first priority. It is an insurance against false accusations, in case of a unfortunate event.

2. Floor mats: Second priority. Anyway you have to buy them.

3. Sunshades: Very important in rest of India. Not sure about Bangalore, though.

4. Mud flaps.

5. Seat covers, if your car has fabric seats, and does not have side airbags. Fabric seats are a pain to maintain.

6. Perfume with 2-3 refills, as cost will be same outside also.

7. Phone charger and cable, if not equipped.

Underbody coating etc are not required in the initial years at least, because cars come with sufficient protection from the factory itself.

My 2 cents: buy whatever you were planning to buy outside anyway.

Plz also include bumper-corner-guards/protectors, as they will prevent scratches on your bumper

Which type of Mats would you recommend? I am still circumspect on whether normal universal mats or 2D/3D mats would suffice, or is it really worth spending extra 2-3K for 7D mats?
How easy is it to remove these 7D mats for washing/cleaning & put them back? Do they take a long time to dry once wet/washed?

Also, are these car-specific mats different by variant - manual vs AT? I ask since the positioning/size of the clutch pedal would be different right?

PS - i am getting a new Urban Cruiser (aka brezza).

You can buy any accessories but tell them to keep them packed. Later sell it online or after markets shops you'll get some of ur money back.

Re: Have to buy dealer-forced accessories | Which ones should I pick?

1. Seat Covers: Company fit is always preferred even if they are expensive than market.
2. Bumper Protection/Side Beading: Always better than aftermarket because they fit the contour exactly.
3. Cover: If you need one. I have seen company ones are usually good quality and don't affect the paint.
4. Dealership will have some random accessories which will cost same as aftermarket: Jopasu Duster, Perfume, Charger, etc

I changed my Seat Covers, Side Beading and Bumper Protectors to company original after the poor fit and quality of after market accessories. So I would highly recommend them. A seat cover especially is a very important accessory for Indian conditions, and I have a dog so I needed them anyhow.
