Thank you. I agree with you on the international bumper design being way more attractive. But in view of our road conditions, I feel the lower most portion of the bumper should be of hard plastic (preferably black), so that it doesn't show scratches from gravel thrown off from vehicles without mudguards. But like you said the lower piano black finished part could have been body coloured.

Re: Dechromed the bumpers of my VW Taigun

The car looks neat Osteon206.

Thanks for clearing out the doubts regarding the removal of chrome pieces. From what I understood, a paint would have been the only way to dechrome these bits.

The price at which you've got it done seems reasonable as well. Love the scratch safe choice of the wrapping material you've chosen.

Do you think wrapping the grille would have been better looking as well? Was that under consideration when you first decided to get the wrap done?

This is a mod I've been contemplating for quite a while now Osteon206.

The chrome on the top grille forms a dissection line between the lower and upper parts of the car. The only visual drawback for me here is that the lip of the bumper doesn't complement the chrome on the top.

I have another version of this where the entire grille can be wrapped in black, the only issue here is that the chrome bit extends outwards in the headlight as well and, that looks a bit off. So I might have to look for a gloss black eyelash cover to make it look decent. The end result should look something like this:

Thank you Throttleflick. I did consider blackening the grill as well. But then decided to just replace the grill with that of the comfort line variant or highline variant after a year or so. My inspiration to do this came from a insta handle, you can check out his reels (he has a GT variant with all the chrome blackened, even the diffuser is blackened. He's gone ahead and gotten a clip on spoiler as well. (volkswagen_taigun_gt). He was the one who told me that the chrome on the bumpers can be wrapped.

Come to think about it, replacing the grill makes for a better option rather than wrapping the individual bits. With such a low surface for the wrap material to grip on, the longevity of the wrap would be an issue. Thanks for the tip

Oh right, I've had a chat with him as well on Instagram. Pretty helpful chap.

Came across this instagram video just now. Looks absolutely gorgeous from front, mixed opinions on the rear profile.

Re: Dechromed the bumpers of my VW Taigun

Some fine mod job done on the Taigun. Bdw, these are the same guys (retrocars) who did a pseudo Monte-Carlo mod job on the Kushaq posted on a different forum here.

Mods done,
- Body cladding in body colour
- Gloss black front grill
- Callipers with Red accents
- Mirros caps & Chrome cladding dipped inncarbon black.
- 18” Lenso wheels

IMHO, should have retained the black body cladding. Helps with the ‘rugged’ SUV look.

Do you mind sharing the location and name of the place you got this done in Mysore? I have been looking at de-chroming a couple of bits on my Aspire and this looks like the right place to do it.

It's a place called car cosmetics, near Bamboo bazaar, in the Bannimantap area. Landmark : it's opposite the Bridgestone tyre store on the road beyond the steps. You can contact Mr. Gurumurthy, who owns the place and does this work. I shall PM you his mobile number. You can show my car pics and he'll know I referred you there, you'll get some extra attention, though he does treat all customers well even otherwise. The place is available on Google maps as well.

Nicely done!

I remember one DIY on YT, the guy just sprayed black paint and it was glossy somehow.

Does anyone do the "dechroming" in Bangalore?

Re: Dechromed the bumpers of my VW Taigun

I own a taigun, the plastic chrome bit on the left side of my car broke off due to a bump I had. Would it be possible to order just that bit and get it replaced from somewhere.

The SC here in Mumbai told me that I will have to get my whole bumper replace.
