Swathyd,
Do not know details except shop name was "Top Gear" and it was in Saidapet. Area was CIT nagar or some such name.

There is a guy (or at least to be) in Trivandrum called Chandran who did these conversions. Old school self-taught kind of mechanic, but a perfectionist. I remember I went to him to fix a differential problem in my father's old Amby and he sat with it for 2 days, smearing ink on the wheels and taking imprints on paper till he got it aligned perfectly.

He had a shop near Chaka before the bypass.

Gears,
Red-One.

Top gear is quite a good place.
The chap was a former Electra Automotive employee.
He was tuning Ayub Khan's(2005 National road racing champion-saloon class) race esteem till they discontinued the series in 2006.

I think its the same chap who was doing the MM540 conversions, because that garage was also near Chaka.

We have 4 Contessa's ,

One is fitted with 2.4L Turbo Diesel 110BHP ISUZU direct import from Abu Dhabi costs us 80K in good condition, just a couple mods to the fendition and the car now reaches excess of 170Kmph. The front suspension is also stiffened using springs from Tata Sumo victa
ISUZU diesel is perfect match for contessa because you donot have to match the gerabox, since its already a ISUZU unit.
The engine comes in following variants.
2.2L NA 70BHP 290KG
2.2L TD 90BHP 310KG
2.6L TD 140BHP 355KG
You can also go for V8 engine from GM/ISUZU 5.5L 230BHP but it needs much more modifications.

Early on this thread, someone (Steeroid?) mentioned that our Conti is based on the Vauxhall Victor 1970's platform, and that it could fit a V8...upon googling, I found this vid:

Clips: The World's Quickest Street-Legal Car Is a Vauxhall Victor? - Jalopnik

It's not a Victor, but just goes to show you the tremendous potential that a car like the Conti could have with the right transplants! can't wait for those pics!

The weight of Stock HM+ISZ engine is 260Kg net, this engine is noway near an original Isuzu, because its manufactured at Uttarpara West Bengal by HM but with some technical know from Isuzu, it is much noisier, slow pickup, 58BHP only, and cannot able to climb steep hills with fully laden though, when subject to Rohtang Pass at Manali HP[personal experience]

Fendition is a technical term derived from the combination of suspension cage with mounting support for engine. It is a special mounting cage on which engine rests.
