Chicago-based car care brand Turtle Wax has opened co-branded car care studios in Gurugram, Pune and Bangalore.

Turtle Wax Car Care Studios offer a range of car detailing services for the exterior and interior of the vehicle. Customers can choose from various care packages including ceramic and hybrid solutions.



Here are the treatments available at the Turtle Wax Car Care Studios:

• Hybrid Series - Basic Exterior Wash, Rinse and Dry, Paint Correction, Hybrid Wash & Wet Wax, Hybrid Spray Coat.
  
• Ceramic Coat Protection - Paint Correction as per standard detailing processes, pre clean, ceramic coating.
  
• Exterior Restoration Treatment with further three types - Smart Shield TechnologyTM Treatment with Paint Correction, Super Hard-Shell Shine and Clean & Shine.
  
• Interior Detailing Treatment - For basic interior cleaning or comprehensive interior detailing which includes Carpets & Upholstery, Roof Cleaning, Plastics & Vinyl, Seats, Leather, AC Vents, Air Freshener, Dressing, Rubber Beading, Door Jams, Seatbelts, Glasses.
  
• Specialty Treatment - Odour treatment, Headlight lens restoration, Rain- repellent coating, Trims and Chrome restoration
  
• Wash - Quick 45-minute cleaning which includes Cleaning, Vacuuming, Cockpit Cleaning, Pre- Wash, Rinse, Alloy Wheels & Tyres Cleaning, Foam Wash, Spread, Rinse, Dry, Glass Cleaning, Tyre Dressing.

To mark its launch in India, Turtle Wax has partnered with ex-F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan and NK Racing Academy. The company plans to open outlets in 23 cities in the coming months.

This is exciting news for me. Finally, one of the best car-care biggie is putting its money where it's mouth is. I'd heard of Meguiar's studio overseas and hope they too land on our shores. I'll definitely visit the Bangalore Studio.

I have seen this store in Yelahanka for quite sometime now. Perhaps it was not yet open. Any idea about the rates?

Lots of money in the after-market studios segment, especially for the branded + organised guys. Turtle Wax is going straight after 3M here. Now, with growth, I have seen that 3M's service has become a bit patchy (although still good). Turtle Wax should go one up on quality, offering a noticeably superior experience. Choosing your franchisees carefully & strict quality control (the kind that Maruti deploys) should be top on the list.

They are going after 3M! This used to be a 3M detailing studio just a couple of months ago.

The end result of such treatments is 75% labour and 25% product dependent. As with everything in India, the first few months will be awesome results since the detailers will be all excited and trying to bring in business.

Once the euphoria dies down, it's work/jugaad as usual and then the cost to output ratio becomes a sore point for the customer. The 3M one in Pune I went to once has shut down and I the reviews on it were always a mixed bag when it existed. Needless to say it was obscenely priced and my FNG does a good job at 25% of the cost.

This is excellent news as I feel someone needs to provide competition to 3M car care outlets in India. 3M used to be good and still is if you are going to a known outlet however I recently went to a 3M car care outlet in Sainikpuri in Secunderabad for interior Germkleen+ treatment which I had had done for all my cars long back in Madhapur. The seats were inconsistently clean, plastics still had grime in few areas, AC vents did not seemed to be cleaned at all as one can see lots of dust on the inside and they had tried to put some fake orange perfume oil to mask the fact that they did not do a proper job. I had no time and had to collect the car at night so I left without saying anything however deeply regretted paying so much for a job that I could have done at home better

In the last couple of years 3M has been dialing down or have been trying to reduce cost. This is true at least in the city of Pune. All the major outlets which were premium locations have moved to cheaper locations though the owners remain the same.

Now though competition is good for everyone, if the detailing market doesnt have volumes then turtles entry is gonna be bad for business for the dealers. I have only used their(3M) business once and when I noticed that my FNG is as good as 3M I never bothered to go again. 3M is better but only my eyes could find the difference, then at a cost difference of more than 50%, I don't really care to specifically go to a detailer. Moreover I can get the car servicing and detailing done on the same day than specifically booking appointments to get it done.

Yes saw one outlet up & running for past few weeks near my house at Viman Nagar Pune close to Phoenix Mall. Need to go & check them out. So far i had pretty bad experience with 3M (Professional Car Detailing - 3M Car Care (Pune)). Aquatint have been my place of choice in the city (Detailing Studio - Aquatint (Pune)). Lets see if they can change my mind

Good competition for 3m. Their rates have gone up and quality has gone down. This is what I felt after the last interior cleaning I got for my car

I recently visited the Gurgaon outlet to get my Ciaz in for a exterior and interior cleaning. My main motive was to get the beige colored seats(Which turned black in some areas) cleaned as after three years of use.

1. The staff is well trained and very meticulous throughout the job
2. There ample parking on the premises.
3. All the equipment is of the best quality.
4. Rates are competitive with other service providers(I have attached photos in the end with rates of various services offered)

Services I availed:
Exterior wash: Included basic pressure washer cleaning(with foam)

Interior Spa(Basic): Included cleaning of seats, dashboard, Door panels and Plastics

Note: Roof liner and Carpet deep cleaning is available with the comprehensive package

Turtle Wax India to set up repackaging facility in Bangalore in talks with carmakers and premium bike OEMs to offer auto-care services, 7 co-branded studios in India by May 2021.



The company is looking to execute its strategy of localisation

In a month or so, we will start locally repackagingindividual product containers, and that is our first step towards localisation,” says Puravangara. To be able to do so, Turtle Wax Car Care India is going to import its large-selling products in bulk from the US.

“First, we will start off with a select few products – basically the fast-moving ones and as and when the need arises, we would start shifting some of our other products as well.”

The company is currently in a discussion phase of zeroing down upon a repackaging unit in Bangalore, where its head office is also located. “It could be a third-party unit, but it would definitely be in Bangalore,” confirms Puravangara.
