My Honda WRV is now 2 years old, and the seats had picked up a few stains and it was time to get seat covers. I am quite happy with the WRV and have decided to skip an "in-between" upgrade, keep this car for the next 3 years or so and then hopefully be in position to go in for a 30/40 lakh vehicle. Perhaps by then, electric cars will be more accessible and will make more sense.
I've upgraded my audio at
Speedfreaks, details in another post
here (Car Audio Installation : Speedfreaks (Anna Nagar, Chennai)) and after experiencing their level and quality of work, I'll never go anywhere else - so I was back there.
I wanted long lasting, comfortable seat covers which would add a luxury feel to the car; to match the Uber luxury sound in it. At the same time, I wanted them to look simple and elegant. Therefore, I had decided to explore leather car seat covers.
Karthik of Speedfreaks took me through the options - he recommended Stanley - as its a well known brand as well as his own brand of leather seat covers without trying to up sell it at all over Stanley. He showed me Stanley products as well as his, and said the leather of their own brand was sourced from Italy and the fit including stitching, perforations could be more customised than Stanley. His brand was about 18% cheaper than Stanley as well. I found Speadfreaks leather to be a tad bit better than the feel of the Stanley products and with it being cheaper and more customisable - and also having prior experience with the quality at Speedfreaks, choose to go with his.
We finalised on a design and colour - though there were a myriad of options, I wanted black seats with a simple silver stitch to match with my interiors.
In 3 days time, the seats were ready and I was back at the shop to fit them and to also ogle at the super cars that are usually in Speedfreaks getting things done - this time there was a Lamborghini, a Ferrari and BMW M3. Sigh.
Another thing that I love at Speedfreaks - whether its a Ferrari or a Porsche or a humble WRV - all cars get the same level of care and attention there. And that's simply magnificent.
Plastic wraps were carefully applied in areas that might get a scratch while working and my seats taken out.
And in about 2 hours, the work was done.
And boy am I happy. The seats fit perfectly and are as comfortable as comfortable can be! They have added a bit of snug firmness that I am really enjoying. And they of course have brought about a premium look and feel to the interiors.
And something else which I liked - unlike Stanley or other "branded" seat covers, these seats didn't have any visible branding. No free advertising after taking my money, honey!
The seats and fitting cost me Rs 47,000/- Money well spent feels I, money flushed down the drain feels the girlfriend.
I remain a very happy customer of Speedfreaks and continue to wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who wants any type of mods/accessories - these guys will make sure you get exactly what you want!
