Thanks. I am definitely going to give it a try.

Two questions - Where can one purchase this coal from? Also, can you share the quantity used and how you keep it in the car (in some cover or as it is)?

I usually take a handful of coal pieces from a roadside tea stall or a clothes ironing person. It works well for 2-3 months. There are also some online sites that sell activated carbon in quantities as small as 1 kg. If looking for branded products, sites like Amazon stock these.

For keeping in the car, I clean and use one of the small plastic containers we get when we order food online.

I am using activated charcoal and it's very useful. It absorbs all smell and leaves the car with a neutral smell feel which exactly we want.
Purchased this from Amazon though looks expensive.

If looking for some premium durable brand. It’s my personal recommendation to buy Involve products. I’m using their fragrances for 2 yrs and they are simply awesome and long lasting. There is a wide variety of fragrances to choose from. Do check out their website

Re: Car Air Fresheners that BHPians recommend

Recently tried this one and it's great. https://www.amazon.in/Involve-Your-S.../dp/B00PPY2NB0

However, what's the long term impact on health of breathing these car perfumes (whatever be the brand) long term?

I usually prefer to use mild spray/deodorant. Just a dash of spray on the matting or carpet and it works wonders. So no irritation or allergic reaction.

Re: Car Air Fresheners that BHPians recommend

Over many years of using Deoderants, Anti Tobacco, Ambipur, Areon (Wish) and sometimes a wiff of XS by Pacco Rabbane. I have zeroed in on camfor put in a perforatted cotton cloth bag ( 4 to 6 small pieces) has a profound impact. For some I do agree it may be overwhelming just reduce the number of pieces in the small bag. The additional benifit I have felt that bugs and mosquitoes hate the stuff and your car is naturally insect free. Its a boon for the Indian monsoon scene.

Great find! How long does it last? And is it the Puja type camphor beads or the real camphor?

I have been using MyShaldon for quite a long time in my earlier Punto and presently using the Involve your senses Musk for my Harrier. The Musk one lasted for 5 months min, will surely recommend this.

Re: Car Air Fresheners that BHPians recommend

Its normal Puja type camphor nothing special, I keep a box with me which costs INR 90 in the market and keep adding as camphor being sublime in nature would evaporate. Box lasts for approximately a month.

Just I keep normal Mysore Sandal Soap, small size and unwrapped. It serves very well. The sandal fragrance stay for almost a month, before replacing the soap with new one. The old one goes for handwash :-)

Re: Car Air Fresheners that BHPians recommend

Had anyone used ABRO AC-050 A/C Deodorizer?

The usage method is unique. Their is a video on Amazon for the same, shared the YouTube link also.

The product review comments are not good, but I liked the method.

Re: Car Air Fresheners that BHPians recommend

Does anyone know the new car smell that a typical skoda carries?

I had owned a Rapid, from the first lot in 2012, for more than 7 years. It had a distinctive fragrance that kind of remained even the day I sold the car! It'll be great if someone can give me a lead on what perfume it was or what skoda service would have done to retain that fragrance

Thanks a lot for the inputs. I bought Little Tress - Black Ice from Amazon. Made only small opening, it smells quite good. Placed it under the parking brake lever as my preference is mild diffusion only. If required, will open it bit more.

Earlier I tried My Shaldan Citrus, Godrej Aer Sea Breeze cards, but wanted to try something different.
