Came across this news of Tyre inflator, (They worded it as air compressor which confused me a bit thinking that its some sort of normal "AC", it is an AC afterall stupid:)

I saw a review of it some time back. Apparently it's good enough only for cycle and motorcycle tyres. It will top up a car Tyre but it will take a while. See if you can find some other reviews

Sounds like a handy product to have during highway journeys if portability is of prime importance, but I am not so convinced on two things:

- One is the cost here in India seems to be INR 2999. That is bang in the same price segment of Michelin's tyre inflators (they have a wide variety from 2k to 8k or so) and a million other wired inflator brands which are quite fast and robust. So this isn't saving anything on the cost department, maybe that's an invisible expectation the minute one hears the Mi word :D. The portability /wireless aspect is not such a big dealbreaker. Anyway most of the times the stranded vehicle is the one supplying the power for this device and all the inflators on the market have long enough wiring to be able to inflate all the 4 tyres and perhaps even the tyres of another vehicle closeby.

- Second is the battery mechanism which seems to be chargeable with a micro-USB interface. They should have given an option to run it on the car's cigarette lighter socket without needing to drain the battery, especially given how slow this seems to be. I'd rather have the wired version running on the car's electricals and not worry about charging, that's one less device to remember and charge on the previous day of a long trip.

If you have used a Portable Tyre Inflator, you must have been advised that, hooking it up at Cigarette Lighter socket, Engine is to switched on and idling to keep Battery charged. When these Pumps are a drain on Battery, how do you expect a small battery do the same function. After all 'Energy can neither be created, nor destroyed.'
You are using Electrical energy to operate a Mechanical Pump, which not only compressess air, but loses considerable amount of Heat Energy by Laws of Thermodynamics.
A small hand held Gadget packed with so much power ? Unless, of course it is Nuclear Powered.

Small correction. It is 2,299 introductory offer and 2,499 after that.

It's cheaper than most. What I like is the size. The regular ones are bulky and in a hatchback compact SUV take up space.

This one can fit easily anywhere in the boot corner.

There is however one major drawback. If the battery isn't charged and you are left with a puncture, there is no way to inflate the tyre other than connect to the car and wait for it to charge which I am sure is 1-2 hours to charge the battery. This defeats the whole purpose.

The regular ones that connect to car battery you don't have to worry to keep it charged.

They should have had the battery as backup and allowed it to function through 12V DC directly.

Oh ok. I had actually seen the price in this link where it was listed as 2,999 in the crowdfunding phase and 3,499 later. Maybe news18 also got it wrong :)

I recently bought Tusa Tyre Inflator from Amazon for 2900 as it had too many good reviews so took a punt. I can say I am very happy with the purchase. It's relatively portable and works good. The pouch and additional nozzles are really useful.

When I first saw this thread I didnt realise this was a wireless compressor. I would definitely buy one at 2.5K. The wired ones are too cumbersome to use to just for a regular check and top up.

But at the same time this would only be like a back up. Would always carry the wired one too in case the tyre develops a puncture.

It makes some sound but won't say its noisy and definitely not a racket.

Noisy one - Must be the Portable Tyre Inflator that is connected to 12V Socket (Cigarette Lighter point). Place it on a Concrete floor, put it in operation and see it dancing. Vibrate, jump and dance around on floor. I have mounted it on wooden pieces with thick rubber pads as Vibration Isolators under them.
