What kind of upholstery would be recommended for the swift? 5K budget.

I'm finding it difficult to imagine what color would blend well with the dark interiors of the swift ?

Suggestions please.

Guys, me and another fellow BHPian visited Cult's South Delhi premises and got a quote of Rs.12000 for SX4 art leather Seats, Door side trims, Rear tray and Leather gear knob and steering.

And I got a specific quote of Santro's steering and gear knob in leather for Rs.2000 and Rs.300 respectively. I think the prices are too high considering the posts here.

What say?

I think stanley leather steering cover is 1K, so a quote of 2K is definitely high.

Hmmm, red and black would be good I guess. Beige would not blend well in the swift.

There is a shop at Opera House. I saw a bhpian's Linea seat covers & got the contact details of the shop & got my Linea's covers made there. Shop name is Auto Fine. They have a mfg unit upstairs there only. Owner's name is Liyakat Ali - 9324631184, 66275008, 23898191. He might not remember me by name but if you tell him that you got the reference from internet & ask him that someone got his Linea's covers done thro' him & taken its pic alongwith his lead guy, he might remember

I am pretty much decided on going in for automotive grade PU Leather for my SX4. I went to Autocraft (Cult) in Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi.
These are the same guys who have done Ashutoshb's Logan's interior.

I have got a quote of Total Rs.: 12000.00/- for the following things:

1. Custom Bucket stiched seats,
2. Seats to be custom padded / cushioned,
3. All four Door Pads,
4. Gear Nob & Boot,
5. Flush Fit steering wheel cover(OE Type),
6. Rear Parcel tray,
7. Four free service' and 2 years warranty,

Is this price correct or should I bargain more / try somewhere else??

Also he would be installing PU leather which is 1mm or 2mm thick. Which one should I go for ??

He is recommending that I should go in for 1mm but I feel that 2mm thickness would be better for automotive conditions / use / abuse.

The price is the same for both i.e. Rs.: 12K, the car would be handed over to me in about 10-12 hours.

Hyper car,
I know that real leather is better than art leather in some ways.
But,
1)It comes real cheap.
2)Looks like real leather for the untrained eye.
3)Bangalore climate is very moderate and does not warrant use of Real leather utility wise.
4)For people with kids , if they rip apart a leather seat with a blade, nothing can be done. But art leather is cheaper.
5)You have the option of changing the interior looks once in 2 years or so.
6)Easer to maintain and does not need specialised cleaners.
7)You save a poor animal by opting for art leather.
8)Leather smells really bad if not maintained properly in hot and humid weather.

So a person choosing art leather over real leather is not an ignoramus who was cheated by the shop keeper.Personally i am planning to put Art Leather in my safari because i cannot justify spending more than 10k on seats alone and art leather serves my purpose beautifully.

Thanks for the info Vahan. Opera House is a bit far for me so i googled and was a able to find G Sport dealer in Andheri West.
Took my CRDi to him and have got a cool offer of G sport Art Leather{Signet}Seatscovers, steering cover & door trims for Rs. 6,200/- only . Couldn't have asked for more.
The covers would reach Mumbai by this coming Saturday{being shipped from Bangalore} and the installation would happen either on this sat/sun.

Will upload the pics once done. Once again thanks for the info..

Maglev, I think you forgot to mention that Gear Knob and Steering will be Pure Leather.

Moreover, what's the harm in bargaining, at max he'll either do it or say no but will do your work. Now I'm having good expectations from you taking into account the research you're doing and I hope you'll exceed my expectations. I'm expecting a sporty beast not a luxurious baby, but yes ultimately Maglev has to play with his ZXi.

All the best.

Raises an interesting thought. How many non-veg people, like me, would choose PU leather over real leather due to sentimental reasons? The poor animals!
