Re: Review: Aukey DR02 1080p Dash Cam

I'm buying car stuff in the wrong sequence!

Car not bought yet, but I got a US colleague to pick up the cam and a 64 GB endurance SD card (Samsung I think) for a total 90 dollars. Decent deal and cheaper than local options. Don't want to hardwire it, will figure out routing to 12V socket based on the car

Hey, thanks for the review.
Just wanted to check if the display is always on while recording or any ways to turn it off?
Also, any long term review and tips and tricks?
Thanks

P.S: just bought myself one and planning on installing it.

There's an option to turn the display off . I guess the intervals are 1, 3, 5 mins etc.

Re: Review: Aukey DR02 1080p Dash Cam

Hello Aukey users

Recently the videos recorded by the dashcam isn't continuous. Irrespective of what duration I choose for the clip (3m/5m/10m), the clips abruptly end under 2 minutes and there is a gap of about 30-40 s between the successive clips.

Is this something you have noticed in your cam?
Is this an issue with the MicroSD card or with the cam itself?

My cam is about 3 years old. I have 64 GB Strontium nitro class 10 card.

Thanks

Sorry for replying late

I too was facing the gap of about 20-30Seconds (may be +- don't remember exactly now) when I was using "regular" microSD card initially in Blaupunkt BP 2.0.
Then I bought 32GB Transcend High Endurance Microsd card from Tanotis in Oct. 2019 for Rs. 3240/- + Rs. 75/- Shipping. This card works like a charm till date (Touchwood). I bought 32 GB one as I thought Blaupunkt BP 2.0 supports only upto 32GB.

The Dashcams need High Endurance High Speed Card to operate smoothly for long time period.

Your Dashcam is taking gap of 30-40 seconds due to slow writing (saving) speed of existing memory card. Please upgrade the card with high speed high endurance one and see the difference.

Re: Review: Aukey DR02 1080p Dash Cam

Folks

Wanted to know how the Aukey dash cam is working now, as nearly 4 years have passed from the time the thread was created.

I am planning to get one from a pal in the US, and also a good high-performance 64 GB memory card. The Aukey DR02 with wifi seems to be around 50 USD nowd at Walmart.

I'd also like to know if any hard-wiring kit is available for Aukey in the US or in India.

Thanks in advance.

Hello @gk1234

Can you please update us on how the dash cam is holding out? A list of pros and cons will be helpful, as I am planning to buy one from the US.

Sorry guys. Haven't been active on T-BHP for a while now. Work and stuff keeping me busy.

The dashcam used to work fine. I no longer use it, though. It couldn't retain the timestamp, for some reason. Had to manually enter the date and year every time after turning on the ignition. Initially thought it had something to do with the memory card. Turns out the memory card was fine. Also, my car's cigarette lighter port doesn't turn off once the ignition is off - which meant I had to remember to unplug the dashcam after every drive. On the occasion I forget to unplug and leave it on a few days, it would affect the car's battery. And unplugging it every day meant I was wearing out the socket all too quickly.

The video quality is awesome. No two ways about it.

I have been using it for few years now (Bought it from US) and it's holding up well. I liked it's audio output (picks up even the smallest of sound.Sometimes I mute the audio).
The memory card lock can get faulty at times.. Once when I pushed the card, it just went all the way inside the dashcam. Couple of shakes and luckily it came out. So get the one with Wifi so that you don't have to take out the card everytime. I rarely take out the card nowadays (maybe once in two-three months).
You get the hardwire kit as extra though I didn't get it. It should be listed on their website.

Re: Review: Aukey DR02 1080p Dash Cam

Date-time keeps getting reset nowadays and several users have faced the same thing. Apparently it has a battery of only 5 Mah capacity responsible for those duties so its designed to fail. Not a great product after all.
