Since you are based in Gurgaon, you could go to Karol Bagh - MXs Motorsport and see if they have any worthwhile LED headlamp options. But these cost upwards of 30K and are typically aftermarket imports from Thailand/ Malaysia etc.
Thanks buddy. I'll avoid then.

I'm accustomed to the old school throw of the yellow bulbs [my other car is '17 model Thar]. It could be me but I feel that the spread and visibility of yellow light is better than the white.. irrespective of the new tech.

But it seems I'll have to stick with the stock bulbs. They are fine and do their job well but was exploring options.

Re: Comprehensive guide to LED Headlight upgrades

Moving away from headlamps, I'm sure fog lamps can be upgraded for Verna? Which bulb type does it support.. any recos?

Also would prefer white as the headlamps are LED. The stock ones are yellow.

Re: Comprehensive guide to LED Headlight upgrades

Can anyone tell me the specifications of new i20 (launched in Nov. 2020) Asta (O) projector headlights specifications (it's white light)?
Couldn't find on google or it's manual.
My best guess is LED bulbs inside projectors. Will upgrade to HIDs will make much of difference?

You are right that warmer light will go further and scatter less vs white light with more blue content. But you are sort of out of options for main head lights since its OEM.

For fogs did you check the user manual, they could be H1 or H8. Those are available in LED as well.

Nicky you are in same state as Yashdeep. You cannot do much change on OEM leds since they dont use standard LEDs that we buy in market. the after market ones are for halogen swap. You will need to change entire projector setup etc which is too much mod.

For fog lamps, I'm bit confused. The manual says HB4; however I see different sockets for HB4 on Amazon.

Can you guide on the right fitment?

Both images are same. Basically it is the locking base of the bulb (which is same in both of these). First image is halogen HB4 bulb while second one is Led HB4 bulb. Only difference is that the electrical connection in the halogen bulb is fixed with the bulb while in the other one it is flexible

Gotcha!

And I assume LED would be better compared to Halogen?

Not necessary. LED on a reflector could scatter more and can be more blinding for oncoming traffic. from looks point of view it will be better surely . I have same thing on my Xuv and luckily the result was better than halogen and given the placement of fogs on 1st gen XUv500 are very low on the bumper, they dont blind oncoming traffic.

Just keep one thing in mind. Normally H8 or HB4 type of lights have the back exposed and not covered by a dust cap cause the HB4 connector in itself is waterproof. If that's the case with your car then buying LEDs with a fan on the back is not a good idea from long term reliability standpoint given the high dust it will be exposed to. Alternately you can consider LEDs with headsink on the back.

Re: Comprehensive guide to LED Headlight upgrades

Has any one tried these either from Amazon or Auxbeam website in India for XUV 300 (H7) Projectors?

I use Auxbeam on my fogs which I had bought in US. however looking at the design on the website above I think these will be a waste since they wont be able to match the beam pattern of halogen.

I would suggest using OSram H7 available on Amazon India. I am using those on my xuv500 low beam projectors and they work very well. Had posted a pic also earlier of the same in this thread. You can look it up.

Thanks a lot!
I had tried Osram H7 and was very much dissatisfied with the results. They do not inspire confidence from behind the wheel. Hence returned them on Amazon.
Had also tried Durvient H7 lights with 4300K Colour Temperature. They were too feeble and therefore returned to Amazon.
