Your Creta is a missile now. :thumbs up
Heard about very poor braking in both Creta & Verna. How are you handling that, too with a remap?

Excellent write up! Could you please post more information on your Brembo setup that you upgraded to? Thanks!

Thank you Sir.

Do let me know if you are looking at anything specific with regards to Brembo's, I'll update you with the same.

I have gone for better brakes from Brembo. Have changed the Rotors and Pads on my Creta.

Which is the variant of Brembo you opted for? I see that they have stock replacement rotors till high performance ones. How does yours classify? From the looks of it, it looks like replacement rotors. Is there any reason you did not opt for slotted or drilled rotors, since they are what can be termed as a serious upgrade. With the replacement rotors, what actually makes them better? I think pads are where the difference actually comes out of.

I had opted for these stock replacement Brembo's for my Linea T Jet and was disappointed. They were nowhere near as good as the stock brakes on the T Jet. Pedal feedback deteriorated and I felt that they were not as sharp as stock. That is my personal take on them.

In the case of the Hyundai Creta, the stock brakes are not that great so might actually favor here.

FM reignofchaos had also used stock replacement on his Mitsubishi Cedia and claims they worked well. This is another car that came with good stock brakes.

Bit of a mixed bag to be honest.

How is the improvement in braking with this setup?

Much better and sharper bite. Good pedal feel and response.

Emergency braking time, the 'hard pedal' feeling that was felt with OEM ones isn't observed with the Brembo.

I have been toying with the idea of a remap on my Creta too. I do agree that there is a lot of lag in 2nd gear. From stock 126 bhp to 160 is a good hike. Would you mind sharing the cost of the remap.

I have never really liked the brakes on the Creta. Would just changing the brake pads to Mintex, Brembo etc not serve the purpose ? I had changed my brake pads to Mintex on stock rotors on my Turbo Swift. There was a huge improvement.

What was the cost of replacing the rotors & brake pads to Brembo ?

Thanks

Excellent report, thanks for sharing.

Couple of questions:

The below video is regarding the time taken for the car from 100 kmph to 0 kmph (Sorry as the video got cut at 10 kmph)

1. Is this time before or after the Brembo upgrade? Isn't the stopping duration too long?? I mean 6-7 seconds of stopping time is glacial. A heavy car like Fortuner stops well under 4 seconds:

Pads: ₹2,500
2. How come the OEM Hyundai pads costlier than Brembos?? Also can you kindly mention the Brembo Part number of the pads?

Cost of OEM brake pads is Rs. 3775 : https://boodmo.com/catalog/part-pad_...brake-9016966/

After. Haven't checked before so can't comment on that part.

Part No.: P 18 025

Neither the Pads nor the Rotors are fit for Creta. I checked them manually (read dimensions) and then fit them on the car.

:Shockked:

Even after the upgrade, it's not too impressive in terms of times. I can only imagine what it was in stock form. It seems 0-100 and 100-0 times were same for your car in stock condition. lol:

Nevertheless, every second counts. So anything is a welcome upgrade.

Thank you for the concern and thought :thumbs up My needs are different for both the remap and brake upgrade which they have fulfilled very well so I am happy. Also the main aim for both these upgrades were NOT mere figures and to prove anything.

Other possible point is, you can blame me for my insufficient practice on both the "0-100" and "100-0" parameters that have not yielded correct and/or better figures from stock setup may be. I need more practice to get better "0-100" and "100-0" figures.

I'm not too concerned about the 0-100, but 100-0 is something which is worrying. I'm not too sure if it's due to the driver or the brakes, but it should be corrected. In terms of emergency, every single second counts. :)

Yes, you are right about 0-100 figures. It could have been definitely much better. Also you have been shifting lazily in stock 0-100 and little more faster in remapped 0-100.

"100-0" wouldn't need any practice. The official figure from Hyundai is 43.7 metres for 100-0 braking, that should be around 3.x seconds. 6-7 seconds is not at all normal, that too after "upgrade". 7 seconds is the time I take to accelerate from 0-100 in my remapped S-Cross 1.6 lol:.

I suggest you to test the braking time again. Make sure the road is not wet. Just slam the pedal fully after 100 kmph, it should not be more than 3 seconds. You can get an idea by watching this video of mine.

That's interesting. Just curious to know for which car they are meant to be fit from Brembo. What does Brembo mention on the box?

The box has absolutely nothing on it. This was the case for the OEM ones I ordered from the distributor in Goa. I paid almost 15k but I guess that is because of dual disc set up on the Fiat. Truth be told, I should have just coughed up another 3k and stuck to stock which was readily available at the dealer too. You learn from your mistakes. In fact, the stock brakes lasted almost 40k km. Off course, I had not abused them which explains the extended life. The only reason I replaced them was because the car hit the 5 year mark and that is long enough for a set of brakes.

I definitely am a little suspicious of these OEM Brembo brakes cause they do not specify the car make or model anywhere.
