I have a similar modification done to an Innova as well, back in Gurgaon. The heightened roof with a glass in the front for view and a hydraulic ramp at the back to get the wheel chair up. Sad thing was that it was a kid.

Reminds me of the Scion xB An outright copy would have looked much better IMO. And obviously, the spikes in the bonnet, need to go.

re: Pics of weird & wacky mod jobs in India!

There is this merc that is normally found nearby my office. It used to have OEM tyres without alloys.

Found it today with these AMG alloys and 245/35/R20 Yoko's. Overkill ? From what I saw, I doubt if it can even turn without rubbing the corners of the wheel well ! BTW, have seen that it is driven by a driver sometimes and the owners wife at times. These alloys had scratches and the tyres look too worn-out to be even a month old. The vehicle on the whole is poorly maintained with plenty of scratches, dents and the merc emblem missing from the front hood and rear.

No comment on the condition of car, probably this could be the worst Merc in the counrty

How come people are maintaining a Merc in this condition?

Ofcourse the alloy looks awesome ! Only that it feels too big IMO ! 20" ?

You should see the rear lamps of this one, completely shattered. Actually all the bulbs are clearly visible ! The rear bumper is literally "hanging" !

That battered W210's still holding its own. Sturdy machines! And yes, those rims and tires are an overkill, but somehow I fell they give the big Benz a dash of character!

The alloys are really nice by themselves. However, on this car they look too big and somehow do not suit the overall dynamics (looks) of the car.

the alloys look really strange on the mercedes!
just killing the understated elegance that a 3 pointed star implies just by being.

re: Pics of weird & wacky mod jobs in India!

What is wrong with you all, this model can easily take a 20" alloy, yes the car is poorly maintained but that broken rear view mirror itself cost 40k and ait available, each tail lights cost 20k, this guy has spent a fortune on those AMG alloys, i am sure he has the moolah or may be this is one of those workhorses in his stable, you cannot judge a guy by just looking at a battered car, this is indeed right now standing at a workshop who knows this didn't come there for a fix up? All your views about the car looking weird with the alloys would have been changed if the car was black in color, trust me that is one hell of an alloy on that merc, adds a lot of character.

My 2 cents.

The oversized alloy wheels is what looks weird, atleast to me ! Yes, it is AMG alloys. Click on the snap and look at the lip closely, you will see an AMG engraving.

You should see it upfront and close. You will realize how ugly they look. Infact, in the picture you can see the width of the tyre and it resembles the tyres you see on the road trains Too wide and too big.

My point exactly. The car is completely battered and poorly maintained. The side view mirrors have both been destroyed/removed.

The alloys and tyres are second-hand. The tyres are almost bald.

i kinda agree with Xryder - that wheel doesn't belong on that Merc. just look at the wheel arch; looks like its gonna hit the tyre at the slightest bump. can that tyre really make a full turn in that wheel well?

I doubt it can make a full turn without scraping the edges. I dont think the power steering will work well for such huge tyres. More muscle power needed !

The alloys on that Merc are really good, and I have also seen this car. But yes, it looks very strange to see a battered up car, boring colour with the fancy alloys. If the car was black and glossy, with a neat body, then it would have gone well

Oversized rims are as funny as someone wearing clothes about 3 size more than what they need or larger shoes.
