Guys this is a spare tire which is kept for emergency use, its quite common out here in Middle East, its a temp jugaad kinda thing so that in case of puncture or tire burst you can use it.

vasanthn21 : Spotted this modded Contessa in the IBP petrol bunk on Nrupatunga Road, Bangalore.
This one is fair, though not very tasteful. Worksman ship is also fine.

But the best (modded) Conti's I have seen were in Mumbai. They used to sport stickers of National Car Garage (then a dealer for HM in South Mumbai). The mods were kind of gentle, but removed some of the boxiness of the Conti.

Any one from Mumbai has pics of these ?

I have seen it in US too, its a spare wheel and they call it 'donut'. You can manage few distance before repairing the punctured one.

is it a space shuttle?

Hi Guys,

Just have a look at this OHC. Notice the "wings" at the back. they even had neon lights at the edges lodged in some funny horizontal bell like structure.

The guy has done a "CHAMATKAAR" to his car.(those who have seen 3 Idiots know what to replace "CHAMATKAAR" with )

regards,
adg_andy

I really can't understand why people need such things on a Front wheel drive. Plus these locally made spoilers, I do not think they are of much use on any car.

Another of those RICERS.

Regards.

Buddy, if you feel this is a space shuttle please go through all the pics in this thread. You will find many UFO like things with wheels on Indian roads. Some of them are vibrant too!

Just saw this Maruti Eco on my way to lunch! Couldn't resist taking the pic! Notice the back bumper

P.S - This is owned by a Traffic Police Inspector! Saw him in the drivers seat!

Cheers!

Hmm.Old 800, and the fittings look as if they are of similar vintage.
He must have gotten it done inspired by the cars in those jackie-chan era(when his movies used to be dubbed!!),you know.
the mitsu starion had similar "gills" on its rear windscreen.loved it when i saw it.then it became "aera-gaera" type of fitting.
a trend , which is being followed today by "angel eyes" and led strips....those are hilarious!!

The only car,in fact the only brand which can pull off the DRLs(the inspiration for led strips), is and always will be Audi.
do not work anywhere alse.just look like theyre copying.
PS: my opinion

What does FWD have to do with having a spoiler?

If I remember correctly, the 1st Generation Audi TT was FWD and yet, it required a spoiler to keep things in check. In fact, the original TT had serious down-force issues when driven over 180 km/h and Audi had to recall the TT in the 1st quarter of 2000 and alter the suspension and install a spoiler.

Anyway, here is India's take on the Holden Maloo! It's actually a Tata Estate converted into a Tata Pickup! On closer inspection, I noticed that the structural integrity seemed to have taken a massive beating!
