Not putting up anything on that thread to avoid any further debate.
I completely disagree with his response, I am also from design (Architecture) background and I must say that any client has only an idea. Its a job of a designer to rationalize the thought rather than executing it blindly. If his client is asking for a pre decided weird job or a copy of something then there you are of no use except as a labor.
He should have thought of his own reputation which he is trying to build rather getting few hundred pounds. And its always better to avoid such clients as they don't help built your reputation and give you only similar pimping projects.

I think is looks ok if not alright. Paint it black and loose the front grille. Has potential. Or maybe a wrap. Must be just me that does not belong here

Negative offset rims and wider tyres lead to a fountain of mud rising from the tyres and splattering all over the windscreen in a Scorpio (apart from making a mess of the bodywork). The mat is just to prevent that. And if he had fixed it with the fluffy side towards the tyre, it would have been quite a job to clean it up after every drive!
