Yes do have them check, you can even see for yourself in direct sunlight in case you feel lights are interfering.

Re: The Ceramic Coating Thread

Hi All ,

I’m planning to get ceramic coating done for my new Red Slavia. PPF is currently not in my budget and based on my location I have narrowed down 2 detailers

Detailing Mafia Bommanahalli - 20k after discount, 9H coating ( didn’t say how many layers of coating )with one free top up within 3 years.

Esperto : 5 layer coating with complete car detailing with 3 year warranty is 38k after discount

I’ve heard great reviews about esperto but wondering if the price difference between the two
is worth the risk going with DM or just play safe with esperto

The haze in those pictures is due to camera. Even if there is a smudge on the lens, it would cause that. I know your detailer personally and there is no way he would skimp on finishing polish.

I am getting my Verna in next 10 days. So I started to enquire about the Ceramic coating and coincidentally I have also reached out to both of the above details yesterday.
I was given similar quotation in terms of pricing.
But, TDM, Bommanahalli gave me 2 top ups.
and Esperto is giving me 10% discount of body coating + additional 10K for the glass coating.

I am interested to know your final decision. I am most likely to either go with TDM or I am not getting the Ceramic coating at all

Hey Amit , congratulations on your new car wishing you many many miles of happy driving. I gave my car yesterday to Esperto as I was not really convinced with TDM. I’m expecting the delivery today evening, I saw the workmanship on few cars that were under going & was convinced it was worth paying the premium

Re: The Ceramic Coating Thread

Yesterday, I went to local franchise outlet of Detailing Devilz to get a quote for my i20, please comment regarding the appropriateness of the charges quoted.

1. Voodoo 10H Ceramic Coating; 15K for 1 year, 20K for 3 year(2 maintenance visits included), 25K for 5 year(4 maintenance visits)
2. Saint Gobain Heat Rejection Film with 70% VLT on all mirrors for 7500
3. Proprietary PPF (TPU) for 70K

As my car is parked roadside and under NO shade, what should I opt for, PPF or Ceramic ?
It's been less than a year since I got it but it has already collected a fair amount of scratches and dings on its front and rear bumper and both ORVM. What would help me in preventing collecting any more new "trophies" ?

In that case PPF would be your safest bet

Congratulations to you Gotham. Enjoy your ride.
Good that you were able to see the work on other cars live and decide between the 2 detailers.
Do post some before and after pictures of your car.

I have a question on my mind, not that I dont want to trust the detailer, but... when I leave my car in garage for 2 days and the detailer says he has applied 3 coats, how will I verify if its actually 3 coats and not just 1 or 2? Is there a way to measure?

Thanks Amit, I will surely post before & after pics by this weekend. I don't think if there is a way to verify how many coats have been applied but considering esperto has been around for a while and many BHPian's have vouched for their quality so I will believe what they say in good faith. Also I would like to mention they've been sending me regular updates on every step of the progress so that's reassuring.

Got the car back from Esperto last evening , work done seems to pretty good and only time will say if I made the right decision. However I did feel short changed when it came to customer service , I was promised a demo which never happened. They forgot to give me the bill & warranty ( I had filled the details & was supposed to given to me). Will have to make one more trip just to collect it.

When I arrived I was told the car is ready and needs to be fetched from parking lot. After waiting for 20 minutes one of the staff member realised & then started looking for my car keys. I could be nitpicking but I expected better customer service. I was given complimentary PPF on OVRM , upon close inspection I noticed bubbles , they were fixed after I pointed it out, again I expect such things to be taken care. I think they had more cars to cater than what they could serve so probably mine was a rush order.

Anyone considering esperto please do check when they can take your car for the required service.

Below are the pics taken by me after the work was done , I was told before & after pics will be shared but that never happened

Update on this, I took the car to the detailer last week. Turned out it was hard water spots from when I tried to wash off bird poop with from a friend's garden pipe in the middle of my recent trip. Lesson learnt, no using random pipes to spray water on your car.

They cleared it up using Carpro spotless. Surprisingly, they didn't charge me for it even though it included a full exterior wash.

I took some more pictures in the sunlight. The haze was definitely due to the camera. The Ceramic Coating Thread-img_5598.jpg

Borrowed a better phone and a proper torch to get decent pictures this time.

Yes never use hard water to wash, if you do make sure to dry thoroughly and you’ll never get water spots again.

Apart from some fine scratches in the first shot, yes looks much better now. There is some haze below your flashlight reflection in the second shot but that could be due to your wiping after you got water spots (paint is very easy to scratch even after coating). Third shot is out of focus, (very common on corrected paint as the camera tends to focus on the reflection and not the actual paint itself).

I always wipe all my lenses before shooting anything, gets the clearest possible image as even pocket lint can cause issues under bright lighting.

Re: The Ceramic Coating Thread

Hi all,

I thought this will perhaps be the best place to get an answer to my question.

Rains have finally hit Mumbai and I was thinking of getting a Ceramic was Sealant coating done on my Cars windshield and rear view mirrors.

I am confused and wanted some good suggestions on what is best.

1. Sealants like RainX or Turtle Wax: Been around for ages. I used RainX on my i20 many years ago and was not disappointed at all. It had very respectable water beading capabilities (tbh that is the only product I have used till date and just for one rainy season so not sure if there are better sealant brands out there)

2. Ceramic coating: Multiple brands available again quoting the same type or better water repellency when applied to glass surfaces.

Simple question what's better in terms of cost and longevity and overall value for money?

Looking forward to experiences and suggestions on this topic pls.

Thanks,
Ashish

Re: The Ceramic Coating Thread

Query to experts.

My Harrier is ceramic coated about 1.5 yrs back. Although the gloss is visible but not to same level as first application. Can I use a Ceramic spray from Sonax Or Turtle or Meguiars to renew the gloss level on the car. Will using such sprays harm the initial ceramic coating. I have been rarely washing the car except for the fortnightly Waterless wash
