Yes, both are mechanically very similar except for the cubic capacity and ECU engine calibration.

The car will pass the emissions testing because of the norms here. The decat if properly done (proper pipe diameter and bends) will help to move more air through the engine which will help to burn more fuel and at the same time keep the EGT under check. Adding diesel without accounting for the air will increase power for sure but it will raise the EGT.

What is the purpose of dividing it into another channel that opens to the engine bay?

If it helps, I inspected the engine bay in the latest vento HL+ I'm getting on 30th Nov, it has the air intake from the outside behind the front grill.
