Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

Hi Folks,

I came across these new type of sun shades which are available for almost all car models by this company called "AutoFurnish". They cover the window from edge to edge and stick to the frame usng magnets, no drilling or double tape is needed.

I saw these installed on a new octavia and a verna (from outside), they looked pretty neat, almost like the rolling ones that come on luxury cars.

Has anyone on the forum used these and can give any reviews? Also, are these available on accesory shops in Delhi? I contacted Autofurnish, they say it is only available online. I am a little reluctant to buy this without actually having the look and feel of the material. I also feel that the price is a little steep.

The prices are very steep. 4k for a set of 4 for Dzire is not worth in my opinion. However, it would be interesting to hear from someone who has used it to see if it does help in keeping the heat out.

Is there a possibility of the cops stopping our vehicle because of this. It shouldn't be we end up paying fine every time.

Atleast in Delhi, cops dont stop. BUt in cities like Chandigarh, they do stop. But, thats one of the reasons why these are better than the doule tape or drilled ones. You can just take them off without any sign.

Reason i say this is because once a friend was stopped in Chandigarh even though his curtains were rolled down.

Re: Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

Would be very keen to hear of reviews as I'm one click away from buying these shades.

However, if cops do stop cars & impose a fine because of these shades, it's not worth the effort. Mumbai cops are very, very strict with their anti-sunfilm drive. 1 out of 3 times that I head out, I come across a nakabandi.

I don't have a problem with the pricing if the product is long lasting. It's cheaper than the entry-level Vkool was.

Little OT, I have always noticed, the number of cars with sunfilms are way more than what we spot in Delhi. It always gave me an impression that Mumbai police is a little lenient.

I am going to visit local accessory shops today to see if I can find this and gauge the quality.I find it hard to accept that this is not available on local shops.

Keep you posted.

Re: Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

I have seen these and they are available in most accessory shops in Bombay as well as dealerships. However they are pretty expensive, the price was about 11K for an Innova for 4 screens. Also another issue is that they are pretty bulky in the sense that in case if you ever feel like taking them off the window then they are difficult and bulky to store else where as they do not fold.

I prefer the auto roll screens which get clipped to the glass, the only issue is that they require drilling.

With regards to cops issue, they look the same as the auto roll up screens and since i have never faced any cop issue with those screens or heard from anyone i am guessing there will not be any cop issue with these either.

Regards,
VVB

Look for 'Automatic Side Window' as per the Autofurnish website its stuck on to the window sill and attached with a clip to the top of the glass.

Works Automatically: There is a very tiny hook attached to window glass, which brings sunshade fabric rolls up/down freely with window glass up&down

Setup easily & securely in secs: We just stick tube<Aluminum> onto your side car door surface using Double Side Adhesive Tape without dismounting any facility.

Only worry is the cops!

Re: Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

Hi,

Thank you for posting this. Since we might not use it always, it would have to be stuck and removed multiple times. Will the product last that kind of repeated use?

Cheers

My point is that since they're stuck on they probably don't need drilling.

Yes, the magnetic curtains would be a pain to store, if they don't fold, like those cheaper individual suction-mounted covers with springy borders. I have the auto roll screens and I find them pretty good. They do have to be screwed on to the door panel but once fitted they are quite neat. The only grouse I have with them is that when they are down the hooks vibrate against the glass.

Re: Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

Got these shades today from autofurnish for my fortuner. (dint want to get those Cheapo shades)

Front shades fit like a glove (6 pieces for the fortuner) the mid row ones sit fine but get lose on opening the door and drop.
Its possible that im not seating it correctly.
Nothing a bit of double adhesive wont fix though.

Will try it over the few weeks and give more info on it.

P.S trying to add attachments, having trouble. Will try again in a while.

Vinay : Can you post pictures and cost and time for delivery . How was the transaction experience ?

I am thinking of getting these for my ertiga and if they are really worth it I might get them too . My question to you is , do they have something that covers the hatch glass/window ?

http://www.autofurnish.com/p/1363/au...ecosport-4-pcs

The shades are car specific.
Buying/Shipping experience was quite fast (Do not expect flipkart/snapdeal level of service here)

make sure you make an account and then make the purchase for better tracking(which I didn't do).

Took about 5 working days to reach me from the date of purchase.
