Great set of pictures. The IWC timepieces on the Mercs look exquisite :thumbs up

Lovely effort at compilation! Really classy time pieces. Thanks for sharing!

Gannu1,
Thats an awesome compilation.
I used to always wonder so as to why the premium cars have analogue clocks.

This is a nice thread to get some answers

Nice compilation Gannu

Analog clocks look very classy. My fav in the pics by Gannu is the one in Cadillac.

I still prefer to see analog clocks in cars. Searching for a nice one that can be put on my dashboard.

I remember LML Vespa having an analogue clock on its instrument cluster. The trend did not carry though. Guess people found it too tacky. I would love to see a classy treatment on the new Vespa though. It would only add on to the premium image that they are trying to create

This a much Humbler W124 Dash Clock

But love the Simplicity Everything has a meaning and Yes 300 KM/HR :)

My personal favourite and most evocative, being a part of one of my favourite marques.

I have this antique Junghans that was found by my late father from a scrap market. He restored it into a Elegant wooden Case but actually it is a dash clock from a German car, probably a Daimler.

Wonderful restoration. Some old cars had handwound dash clocks, is it one such ?
I personally prefer analogue display, not only because it looks classier, but also as I do not have to actually READ the time in a moving car, but come to know it from the position of the hands in a swift glance while driving. In a digital display I have to actually read the digits, and this seems to take longer.
Plus, if the daylight is dim, it is impossible to read a digital display, as my new Gypsy has an LCD clock whose backlight is wired to the dash lights. Moreover, the light has stopped working within a few months, as they usually do ! I cannot get an analogue-display clock of the standard 2" round shape in Calcutta, either Indian -- as I put in the old Gypsy, or KIENZLE (German) -- as I put in the Jonga in 1987 and which is still working !
So it seems I have to get another cheap quality LED or LCD substitute !

Yes of course it is a hand-wound variety. I presume we did not have battery cells in those days.
Do post some pictures of the clock in your Jonga.

Also I think Tata safari has analog clock on its dash.

Thanks! Never knew that before.

Here are the dash clocks from the 2 different variants of the Safari - Dicor and Storme both:

The one on the Dicor (the round one) looks much better IMO. No offense to Storme owners!

Indeed but shockingly the new W222 S500 doesn't sport an IWC!

Is there any wristwatch version of the watch with large second hand and small window for hour and minute hands and digital display of time, as shown on Porsche 911 Targa or Porsche Cayman S?

Has anyone tried a DIY to install an analog clock ? These digital clocks are just too plain. It should be possible in place one of those dummy buttons or in place of dummy start / stop button placeholders.
