Considering that the LED's can get mud/dirt on them thus impairing the heat sink, can they be somewhat effective if mounted on the roof above the windscreen, but yet have better chance to last longer?

Yes, its always better to mount higher up. However, I had already "reserved" the top position for the rectangular square 60W pair, this was the only place left. Did not want to get anything on the roof.

So what you have installed on your safari is a 60W or a 200w bar that is shown in the pic above.
if it is Combo 200W then why such narrow throw.
or as you referred in the other post you still suggest a 120W (20inch Bar) spot setup instead of a combo,will have a good throw and will lit the road efficiently.

On my safari for this review I have a single 60W bar.
200W was just as an example :)
Yes, spot for 120W is great. Long throw. For illuminating sides, best is to use low beam of your vehicle.

Followed this thread since its start. I've just dropped the idea of geting 3 xenon lamps from hella as everyone is opposing for the ugly look on the car. wanted to have them on octavia to drive on remote roads which i take.Can a light bar meet my requirement to a good extent ? Also what is the maximum size( no of leds) i can go for , considering its a sedan.

Why not import a projector kit and install Xenons. Is the cost very prohibitive?
If you go for good quality lights lets say 2*60W, cost comes to ~20,000 INR for stuff which can give you a 15 degree beam which is good for range as well as spread.

I have been using them for a few months. Sorry, you won't see a review here due to my commercial involvement.
Lately most of the off-roaders in UAE are using the LED light bars. I spoke to one guy and he said that the light bar is very useful in the sand dunes at night. According to him, the light spread is good and is muck better than the stock low beam light. He also mentioned that they are not supposed to be used on UAE roads.
Bought the LED Bar last month during my trip to china.
These are 120W LED Bar Combo Setup

Opened the top portion of the Front Bumper

Welded a sheet to handle the load so that the fitting dont get ripped off just extra care

Inserting the Custom Made fitting on which the LED will be fitted.

Work almost done

Finalizing the welding
Came home for lunch now .

TSK, dedicating this make to you, your thread has given me the inspiration to design and make this. This is a 40w led bar, 10 watt each as suggested by you. The problem with 10w is not much of the parts are available, drivers to the led are not even heard by the local vendors. Took me over a month to fabricate and design. Parts required to make these are:
1. SMD LED 10 Watt each (local market)
2. Heat sinks (local market)
3. Collimator lens (ebay india). These are awesome. Without the lens one can still stare at the led for 5 secs but with these on the lights go crazy. I have removed my Hellas, they give silly pencil beam lights compared to these.
4. Drivers, bought many but used none. Most of them failed in both series and parallel connections. The ones bought from dx.com are yet to arrive, due over a month. Back to my engineering basics, used 7812 IC's on heat sink which is placed inside the bonnet.
5. MS sheet fabrication.
