Background:
Sid & Vivek picked up a Vbox Sport few months back.
One of the first measurements we took with the Vbox sport was a hurried 0-100 on my Rapid TDI, which runs their remap.
More on that later...
Fast forward:
With that said, one of my close pals and I found ourselves jobless few weekends ago, and since he wanted to measure his 0-100 time on his remapped Figo, we thought we'll make good use of a Saturday.
So, I called up Sid/Vivek and asked them what they're up to, and if they can accommodate some time for us to borrow their Vbox and do a couple of runs.
They were busy remapping cars, but said they'd give us a buzz if they wrap up early.
And true enough, we got a call in the afternoon from them saying they were done with the cars they'd lined up for the day, and we could catch up to do the runs.
Oh yeah, nice! We scampered over to their new office at Sarjapur, and after exchanging pleasantries, set about doing what we came for.
Testing the Figo:
We hooked up the Vbox to the Figo, found a completely deserted stretch of road that's closed at the moment to public, and my friend took the Figo for a couple of runs.
He happens to be a very smooth driver who rarely pushes the car to his limit, and he came back saying the car can go much faster.
So, I decided to take a shot at it. Took the car around for a spin to get used to the bite of the clutch, and how the engine responds, and after I felt comfortable, I went ahead and started my runs.
I did 5 runs, and hit very similar times on my 4th and 5th runs to the ton, at which point I knew we (the combination of the car and I) couldn't go any faster.
I'm sure other drivers might be able to extract an even faster time, but I think I found my limit without being overly aggressive on the car.
Look for the time further below in this post; you'll be surprised at what it did!
We still had time to kill, and I was wishing I'd brought my Rapid along as well.
Though we'd already done a quick run on my Rapid few months ago, I knew I could go slightly faster.
Another weekend for sure!
Managed to run a Swift too!
Sid's own remapped Swift was parked nearby and happened to catch my eye, and I was quietly thinking to myself, if I might be able to take it for a spin.
I think Sid caught my drift, and voiced the same idea himself, so I gleefully jumped into the Swift and took it out for a spin to get accustomed to the car.
Once I was comfortable with the Swift, I did few runs, and my 3rd and 4th runs to the ton were very similar. I was confident I personally had found my limit without being overly aggressive on the car.
I think you'll love the time his Swift clocked as well... further below in this post.
This thread:
We thanked Sid/Vivek for their time, and made our way back home, very happy with the times the cars clocked.
En route, I was thinking... I should post this on Team-BHP, would be useful to others.
Maybe... I should just start a Vbox 0-100 thread, hadn't seen one on Team-BHP, and I really didn't mind maintaining the thread going forward if others pitched in with their times.
I slept on the idea, and today morning, it still sounded like a darn good idea! So here we are ;-)
The figures:
Here are the specs of the cars I've personally tested, with their 0-100 figures
My friend's Ford Figo 1.4 diesel:
Stock engine specs: 68 BHP, 160 NM
Estimated figures post remap: 88~90 BHP, 190~195 NM
Stock 0-100 figures as per Autocar's Vbox run on the Figo Diesel: 16.26s
The 0-100 time that I did on a Vbox in the remapped Figo Diesel:
12.72s
Vbox graph of my 2 best runs below:
Sid's Suzuki Swift 1.3 Diesel:
Stock engine specs: 74 BHP, 190 NM
Estimated figures post remap: ~100 BHP, 230~235 NM
Note: This isn't the regular remap he would advocate to others, he personally runs at a higher state of tune, it's his own car!
Stock 0-100 figures as per Autocar's Vbox run on the Swift Diesel: 13.65s
The 0-100 time that I did on a Vbox in the remapped Swift Diesel:
11.24s
Vbox graph of my 2 best runs below:
My Skoda Rapid 1.6 Diesel:
Dyno figures at wheel in Stock: 108 BHP, 282 NM
Dyno figures at wheel post remap: 138 BHP, 327 NM
Stock 0-100 figures as per Autocar's Vbox run on the Rapid Diesel: 11.44s
The 0-100 time that I did on a Vbox in the remapped Rapid Diesel:
9.34s
Note: As mentioned before, the 9.34s run was hurried; I think I can go slightly faster
Vbox graph below:
Kudos!
Having driven stock Swifts, stock Figos, and stock Rapids - and their remapped versions, I can tell you for sure. The remaps are uber quality. All the cars rev smoothly & cleanly to the redline if required, and they put down their power on the road linearly, and impressively. None of the 3 cars have taken a hit in fuel efficiency either under normal city & highway driving conditions, and all cars have run 20,000 kms+ post the remaps.
Shall we Team-BHPians collaborate and keep this thread active?
If everyone thinks it's a good idea, please share 0-100 Vbox graphs of your cars in this thread, and I can volunteer to catalog them on behalf of everyone for reference.
Please be sure to specify your car model, fuel type, stock engine specs, remapped or modded engine specs (if you have remap, or have carried out internal mods), and if the 0-100 run reflects your stock tune or remapped tune.
I'm sure it'll be very useful to a lot of folks on the forum. Cheers!
