Did you spray while the wheel was on the car?

Personally, I would have liked if you had
1) removed the wheel
2) sprayed only on the rim not on the nuts
3) removed the center cap and not spray on the cap

That way it would have looked more realistic (or more OEM, so to speak)

Looks good Rohan! Where did you procure the plasti dip cans? I am unable to find any in paytm. It says out of stock. Also how many cans did you use for all 4 wheels? And how many coats?

Done as an experiment. I wanted to paint them black but wanted to see how they would look before hand. Didn't have the facility to remove the wheels

Agreed with this

The center cap is silver. Wanted it to be black as well- so sprayed it.

Answered above! :)

A friend had them with him so we used those. we ended up using almost 2 cans with 5 coats of the black and 2 of gloss on each wheel!

You could have saved yourself the trouble and masked the STORME letters carefully, then plasti dipped them.
That way the finish would have been awesome. The original chrome would be visible for just the letters making them stand out pretty well.

I already discussed that option with the Ullas, who is the official reseller in India. His explanation went like this, S T O R M E is not embossed work. It is debossed work. So when you want to cover them properly - you need to make it embossed with sharp projections to the outer side along the border line.

Once the plasti dip dries, it works like our dead skin. When we try to peel off plast dip around sharp embossed letters it will come off very easily. If the shape/letters do not have a sharp embossed boundaries, we end up removing the entire spray of the object.

Hence, the pain. :)

I used plasti dip and not regular paint since it gives a nice soft touch feel to the interior trim.

Well, technically I used Rust Oleum Peelcoat, which is similar to plasti dip.

With permission from Ullas, here is his contact number - +91 9731943666. When you call him, tell him Kamesh from Hyderabad has shared his details here.

Good luck!

Hello everyone,

Attaching picture of my Verna 4s.

I re-did this panel (and a lot more) using graphite shade of Rust-Oleum. Its the perfect shade for interiors!

4 coats on all panels.

Everything together. This picture does not do justice:

All this required almost half the can. So I have spare remaining with me in case I want to re-do any of the panels when it gets scratched/damaged.

attaching more pictures of my car with plastic dip done.

Yes it is durable. But you have to be careful to not curb the wheels. It requires the same amount of care as any normal alloy would.

I am in the US currently and planning to buy couple of plastidip cans. Can we bring plastidip in our check-in luggage ? Has anybody in this group tried it before. I remember reading in some other forum that carrying aerosol is prohibited on flights. Any help is much appreciated.

I had carried couple of cans in my check-in and didn't face any issues. This was through emirates from SFO.

I agree, I brought 3 cans of wd 40 last year from the US. Faced no issues.
