I am not a fan of chrome & the chrome grill of my Duster AWD was pinching in my eyes for long. So planned to Plastidip it. Below are some pictures of WIP & final outcome. Please let me know if more details are required.

Wow. Now the Duster is looking more Masculine. :)Also matching with the lower front bumper. Good Job.

@PapaBravo Done like a pro. Though the black is not prominent, it looks cool. Gives a fibre feel to the grill now. You could have plastidip-ed the ORVMs as well. It should go well the black roof rails and grill.

Guys I was just surfing through Paytm and found this.

Has anybody bought this from here. Is this a genuine product?

Nicely done. Though I keep admiring your ride I did not know you are on the forum and we are neighbors. I am in tower 12. I wanted the same treatment for my jazz's rear chrome strip. Will reach out to you for advice

Thanks Ritayan. My wife told me about a new Jazz she spotted with stickers in the society parking. I will be PMing you my number. Do get in touch since now we know that we are neighbours.

Doing the rear chrome strip of Jazz shouldn't be difficult. The most crucial part in these kind of DIYs is masking.

Pawan

I bought it after seeing your post. I received the product today and yes, it's absolutely genuine. Cost me just around 700 bucks after 300 cashback!

Thanks for the update d3mon. This cashback is making it even more tempting (not promoting any business).

I think it said that it was imported by "Flaunt ur Kuler", same as the seller on PayTM. I can check tomorrow and confirm. Unfortunately, I don't have the can with me right now.

The MRP was listed as Rs990 on this can.

Eagerly awaiting this DIY on the Jazz 2015 . Will help a lot of us. If possible, please document the process with pictures please:

For now, I am currently evaluating both the black vinyl wrap and plasti dip approaches. Came across a video on youtube for applying a vinyl wrap on the rear chrome grill (not for the Jazz) and seemed to be quite a quick DIY too -

@Lukeskywalker

Your DIY inspired me to paint my storme. So a BIG thanks to you for that. I managed to get hold of the official reseller in India and sourced 2 cans.

He was extremely helpful in explaining me how the STORME lettering could give me challenge while wanting to highlight them in the matte finish. The letters have not sharp edge around the boundaries.

Do you have any suggestion how to highlight the letters in matte black and masking the surrounding area on the chrome strip.

Over the last weekend, I went ahead to plasti dip my Astern Black Storme bonnet chrome lip with black matte finish.

Firstly, thanks to Lukeskywalker for sharing the details on the DIY which was carried out on the urban bronze storme. I really loved that black matte finish.

Thanks to Ullas .N who has answered my queries. He also gave me that pep talk to go ahead with my DIY.

Wifey and myself did a thorough check with the items required for a smooth DIY. Arranged for these,Park the car into a position, where the area you are going to target for DIY should have adequate light. And not too much of dust/air flowing right on that car part.

Proceed to mask the surroundings, this video I found on youtube.com is very good for beginners like me. It talks about masking, how to get that spray evenly and how to peel off spray in unwanted areas.

Front logo after first coat:

At this stage I felt I should proceed to spray the TATA logo and model description EX letters on the rear door. If we observe, there is a horizontal strip which bears the logo/model that runs in a matte finish.

I let it dry through whole weekend. How I kick started my Monday is :)

What next: I want to highlight the S T O R M E on the bonnet lip either in chrome or other color which stands out in the black matte background. Any suggestions on this are welcome.

You could have saved yourself the trouble and masked the STORME letters carefully, then plasti dipped them.
That way the finish would have been awesome. The original chrome would be visible for just the letters making them stand out pretty well.
