Man on wheelchair invents disabled-friendly cars

A very interesting invention and kudos for him not giving up. check the video - it looks really easy to drive - all assisted by hand controlled mechanisms.

Erumeli: An accident in 1998 altered the course of Biju Verghese's life, confining him to a wheelchair forever. 13 years on, Biju still battles the demons as he recollects that fateful accident. But the 38-year-old electrician from Kerala's Erumeli town didn't let despair defeat him. Instead, he picked up the pieces and toiled away hours in a thatched roof workshop to create a retrofitment kit for his car that would give him that much-needed mobility.
"One day, I saw a programme about the Air Force One on the National Geographic channel. That was the first time I saw how small levers were used to control a huge plane. I was hooked to the idea and after many unsuccessful attempts, I could make this kit using the idea," Biju said.

Re: Man on wheelchair invents disabled-friendly cars

Yesterday I saw an interview in a news channel about a soldier who was injured in 1995 and is confined to a wheelchair.

He was in news because he drove thru the highest motorable road,non-stop for some 17 hours i think. He has even published a book.

Was really touching to see his courage. And we curse because of a running nose.

Great invention .
Very useful for the needy one. Can anyone provide more info on how one can buy and fix this kit? One of my friend is looking for something like this.

This video shows more than what IBN has captured. Not very clear though.
