Team-BHP - Modifying a Honda Jazz

Driving in my Honda Jazz, I have sometimes felt the need for that little bit extra. Do you think the Jazz can do with some 'Peteing' or comparable fine tuning?
What impact will this have on the engine, if at all?
Does this void warranty?

Selfdrive, I think you should approach the modifications just as you would for any other petrol car. First, get yourself a nice intake. Then, a performance exhaust. While these will not significantly bump up the power, you can easily achieve a 5 - 7% gain. And believe me, a lot of that is noticeable (as I found out with my Civic). Importantly, a well-designed exhaust can & will improve your Jazz' low-end torque.

Petes doesn't offer tuning boxes for petrols (you need turbo-diesels for those). Get an intake & exhaust first. Then, if you want more, the next step is a good remap or piggyback. More information in this thread.

Well to start with a filter then an exhaust( automech or BAR) or bolt ons based on your budget and then if you want more then a remap.for ECMs you have tuned ichips, rd ecm & Kiirus etc.this is before you open up your engine.if designed well these parts would only compliment your engine.
as for warranty a free flow would definitely make it void.

@GTO; let me correct you a bit. Pete has nothing for normally aspirated cars. I think they have a box for the Laura / Octavia RS!

Quite often with Honda engines people tend to forget that they develop maximum torque pretty high up the band. So drive enthusiastically, and use the excellent gear shift!

This is what I am doing as of now. On the plus side, the extra revs do help with the feel good factor too! Somehow this doesnt go down well with backseat drivers especially the kind that appears periodically in my drive. I need some advice on how to deal with them, I think I should start with ear plugs please:

I agree wildchild4lyfe; will consider getting the panel filter to get things started and then see "ki chaadar dekhkar main aur paaon phailaata hoon kya" (in other words if I increase my requirements once I have got something done

Sorry stupid: but if I get the remap done, wont the company know when I go in for servicing or they dont look in such detail?

Also, are there any mods that are "recommended" here on tbhp for enhancing either performance or comfort/ convenience?

Nope no box for petrol cars. Even if they are turbo petrol cars there is only a remap. The box is limited to common rail diesels.

i had actually seen them tune a skyline and it read pretty well.the main reason for me to suggest his name is that he works on the company ecm . otherwise no one to beat Kartik.

The ECU sold on the Jazz/Fit cannot be remapped as of yet. I know what the people at Kiirus do, and they are not the first ones to take this route (selling foreign maps by buying an ECU flasher and flashing them). And there are better companies/people for a Honda ECU than Kartik, no offense taken by anyone I hope.

Get an Air Intake Revision (AIR) Kit.
Next can be an ECU remap and may a FFE exhaust.

The AIR can be removed during the service period, so you don't have to care about the warranty issue.

As far as the remap goes, it is possible for the Service Center to know that your car has been tuned provided they do a thorough check-up. Just reading with the examiner won't reveal that you have got a remap. Also, I think most Service people don't even bother doing that, its only done when you complain about something, or they have to offer something under warranty.

One way they can know that you have a remap is by test-driving your car :)

FFE will void warranty, so may be you can get it after the warranty expires.
But I think the above 2 mods will keep you happy for sometime.

Finally, the thread I was looking for.
It seems the suggestions are unanimous -
Step 1 - air filter and intake
Step 2- Tuned exhaust. I am not sure about free flows, they give lots of sound which does not necessarily translate into more power
Step 3 - ECM remap.

Now, I would like to start with the Step 1 and see
I have the following questions -
can someone tell me where to get it done in Hyderabad?
Which brands to buy?
What will be the cost?
Will there be any effect on warranty??
Will it have any adverse impact on the car?
Will it increase the sound? I dont want more sound.
