Team-BHP - Buying a used Mercedes S-Class

I am just like many of you, the dream to buy an 3pointed star, yes finally aftter consultasion with several automobile enthusiast, i finally decided to buy a used e280 diesel 2007 model. from Mumbai.

These are my tips in points

first never ever hear the words of a dealer/broker, there is no friend called broker, nor broker friend.

first things to check

R C Book

You need to see the real RC book, a photocopy will not do.

What you need to check is it first owner second owner etc

Has the battery been replaced or not

Have a scan done by the merc mechanic

visit the merc showroom whre this car was serviced and then ask them for a report.

twist the steering well, left and right and check for any sound

also check if there is a esp error

on acceleration check if there is any sound that's not normal.

also check who is the owner, try avoid second ownership

have rs 2 laks extra for spares,

check when was the last service done and where.

check if the hire purchase agreement has been cancelled

check seats if its worn out

ask for second key if they do not have it reduce 30,000 until they give you the same.

test drive similar models before you buy as you would want to know how different each car is.

talk to owner as much as possible, show him the box of cash for instant negotiation.
