What's so special about BMW 7 series.

Good morning friends,

My family wants to buy a Bmw 7 series. They were so particular only about Bmw 7 series and even they went for bmw 7 alternative audi a8,but others told them audi's maintainence is costly when compared to bmw.Bmw salesman gave a very nice description for bmw 7 series sedan, but I was sent here to this site to know any other reviews from the users.I am not at all a good driver and a person who can talk 24x7 about cars and motors. As this being a very big budget car,we want to know everything about bmw 7 series. Our primary preference is driving comfort because all of my family member including me are taller than 6'1.And also which is best in the available models of bmw 7 series. Is it 730ld,740Li,750Li.And what about the service from bmw dealers of Hyderabad ? Is that car really worth of 80+ ?

Thank you

Hey R7

A couple of more details would help guys on the forum give you more pointers.

1. Are you only looking at a sedan and not an SUV.Why not a Audi Q7

2. In the Uber Saloon class the Merc S class is considered the best for being chauffer driven, the BMW for the sporting nature and the Audi for being the best all rounder. Now what are your preferences would state the obvious.

3. All the cars are more or less going to be equal to maintain , as they say in Rolls Royce showroom (Pun intended) if you ask how much it is going to cost you it is probably more expensive than you think. (the right expression is you can't afford it)

4. I for one think that these cars are not worth the money. Not because they are bad but because of the taxes that our govt wants as taxes is totally making it no value for money deal.

This is my personal opinion so hey take it with a pinch of whatever you like

The BMW 7series, the Merc S Class and the Audi A8 are usually bought for the luxury and comfort and safety they offer, which i doubt the Q7 will match.

If you are really going to drive the car most of the time you can always buy the ones with the v12 engine, otherwise if its for getting chauffeured around a diesel makes more sense. And also you can customize it to your taste.

I think we should also know what are your current cars i.e. from which car are you upgrading to the 7?

There are lot of aspects regarding these premium cars than just the price. Your previous ownerships will help others in helping you make a decision.

hi thanks for that.

car is not a chauffeur driven. My cousins who are around 25,26 etc even they will be driving this car.we are into export business. But when my cousins, father and other uncles are attending meetings with foreign delegates our present cars are looking so down.We also want a luxury symbol. We have seen this mercedes s class, but bmw 7 series was impressive when compared to mercedes and audi was number 1.We really dont want an suv.A stylish, driving comfort luxury saloon is what we want. But you're telling that 80+ price for this is a waste ? is this really not a good car ? what about maintainence ? we can afford it,but is that really too costly ?

Congrats rude7 on the choice of a BMW 7 series.
I would choose the 730Ld, not for it being only a diesel and economy. Fuel economy is hardly the criteria one would go about when deciding to go for a luxury symbol.

Your other choices would obviously be The Audi A8 and the Mercedes S class.

I would opine on the BMW for the following reasons.

1) Best value for money (The Audi A8 can get you a better deal but then there are other factors against it.)

2) Looks like a million bucks as compared to the others.

3) Offers nore bang for your buck in comparison with the Mercedes.

4) Has more OE equipment than the Merc.

5) The optional extra equipment is cheaper than the Merc and the Audi

6) Has a better or equivalent service network and backup as compared to the Merc and better than the Audi as yet.

7) Has better resale value than the Audi

8) Parts availability is as high as the Mercs locally. You cant get a thing for the Audi.

9) More X factor than both cars.

10) Your young cousins will enjoy driving all three but somehow BMW has a ring to its name.

Any of these cars are virtually maintenance free. In the BMW, the Merc or the Audi, remember, if the car is not going to be driven often, it will give you trouble. The more you drive these machines, the better they perform.

The price one wants to spend is relative. Oe man's meat is another man's poison. For someone even a Nano is high spend and then you have people who can buy the RR off shelf (if available) at a flick.

If you are only going in for these cars only to impress your clients then i guess a Superb or even an Accord would do. Anyways the A8 or the 5 series is also a good bet at almost half the price. Not recommending the E class as the new one is expected shortly.

Whatever you decide, enjoy. I would opt for the BMW if i were in your shoes.

based on what you asked and said , BMW 7 series is the best. take 730Ld (the diesel version).but only if you wont take out the car everyday. The parts of the car are in lakhs and not thousands.moreover its a car more than a crore.so you must be ready to face the hyderabadi indicabs, autos and APSRTC buses especially.

Everyone's pretty much covered it all. In a nutwheel, the 7 is better to drive and suited to the owner who drives frequently. However the S-Class has the 7 beaten on comfort....the ride quality + cabin isolation of the S are in a different league altogether.

Just to create a bit of confusion , little birdies of Team-bhp posted about Lexus being brought to India . The LS could be an option as well if your willing to wait.

Call me mad, but i'm a BIG fan of quattro , Just that the A8 needs the facelift with the LEDs. The A8 is good, more exclusive, but for your requirements the S CDi should be amazing. The 7'r might be better to drive but then again, the comfort that the benz gives you is quite something else. Besides, the S is a hoot to drive too and will soon get a facelift ( The 7 just got one, if your buying immediately, get the 7. It's the best looking BMW i'v seen in a long long time. And i mean a really long time)

The A8 is the oldest in this group. The S beats it on comfort, and the 7 on driving experience. I feel the A8 is a little "neither here nor there"! Plus, it depreciates the quickest in this group.

The S is the all-rounder of this group. Especially in CDI guise.

Frankly the best thing about the A8 is Ronin (that to the first series S8, seeing that in action made me want to own one!)

And Transporter 1, for the 7-series. I still like to watch just the first 15 minutes alone, for that riveting chase scene.
