Replacement cars for the Discovery Sport and Mini Countryman

Hi guys,

So I'm in the market to replace the Discovery Sport and the Countryman, both being used by my Grandpa who will grace the age of 75 early next year. Now, he's been one of the simplest person one can come across and most of his life has driven the Ritz and the Cielo he had until we replaced it. Both the cars are fairly trouble free except the Countryman which keeps throwing surprises but I think it's time we get him something nice as he still goes to office every day and its about 30-40 kms run daily. He doesn't drive much himself, only occasionally when the Chauffer is absent and only uses the front seat.

Thought I could take some advice with the team bhp fam as I'm considering replacing both the cars and the requirements are simple he'd go for anything we decide but has to be a not-too-high SUV as he has huge ingress / egress problems with sedans. Also not looking for a Mercedes, BMW, Audi. Priorities are front seats comfort and reliability and the car being not too huge as it'll be used in Patna. Max can shell out 2 or else if the budget permitted might have just gone ahead with something really really special!

Considering following options, open to discussion.

1. Range Rover Velar / Sport + Countryman EV
2. Porsche Macan EV + Countryman EV
3. Porsche Cayenne + Innova Hycross
4. Maserati Levante + Innova Hycross
5. Lexus RX + Countryman EV

My regards and best wishes to him

The prime reason people sit in the front while being driven is comfort. Only a very few cars offer similar comfort in the rear.

1. Vellfire - deliveries have improved. If flexible in colour, you can get it quickly.
2. X-7 - 10-15 Lac discounts. Rear captain seats, with one of the best suspensions.

From the list you shared, why do I feel this is more your own rather than grandpa . If that's indeed the case, I will suggest -

Macan EV is getting good reviews, but so did Taycan in past, and we have seen how these things are depreciating. Also, for your age, you should probably avoid anything that does not make a sound.

Levante is an ok-ish car, luxurious but Macan GTS is far superior. I have driven both and can tell that the handling of GTS is pretty close to a 911. Porsche has some of these and you can take off 10-15 lac. Also, not far off is the Cayenne GTS, you may get one from transit or even stocks.
