Found this on T- BHP Classifieds. The ad might be old but there is a possibility of the car still being available.

Re: BMW M340i vs a pre-owned Ford Mustang GT

I took a test drive of 2 BMWs today, the new 530i and 340i. The 530i was quite an underwhelming experience after you've spent some time with a 530d. And its irrelevant to this topic, so we'd just walk past it. But its worth to mention that its the most beautiful BMW currently in production.

Now comes 340i, I was expecting a muted exhaust note on a fast car. but I was pleasantly surprised. As soon as I fired her up, there's a nice (albeit muted) growl from the engine. I'd definitely love a louder flashier look-at-me exhaust but I guess this one's more easy to live with. The car is superbly balanced and is, fast!! I found myself a clean + empty stretch of tarmac and floored it and it was beautiful. It will be a very sensible purchase for any petrolhead.

But the OP is 25. And lets face it, 340i is not flashy. I think I'd have gone with the Mustang as well when I was 25. Or a porsche. It is the best of both worlds really. Sensible + practical + flashy.

Just on a slightly orthogonal note, how did you find the 340i compared to 530d (maybe you can share your thoughts here (The inevitable dilemma | BMW 530d vs M340i))

Introduction- This being my first post on Team-BHP, I'm very excited to know the opinions of my fellow members. I'm a young man who has just entered into my family business and have been very enthusiastic about cars since my childhood. I feel very lucky to be a part of this prestigious community.

The Dilemma- I stay in Hisar, Haryana (Tier 3 city) and we own many cars which are used by my family members individually. Toyota Innova Crysta 2.8 (2017) used by my father, Audi A4 35TDI (2018) used by my sister, Volkswagen Polo GT Tsi (2016) used by my mother, Ford Endeavour 3.2 (2017) and Mahindra Thar Crde (2016) used by me. So the itch for a new car has started (me being a car enthusiast in the family) and I am selling both of my personally used vehicles to make way for an F-A-S-T car. I'm currently confused between the BMW M340i and the used Ford Mustang.

M340i- I made an enquiry with BMW India about the car and was later contacted by the BMW Bird Automotive, Gurgaon. I and my father took a quick test drive of the Dravit Grey coloured vehicle and were in love with the Engine and the way the car handled. But, we were not impressed with the colour of the vehicle (neither the blackish-grey interior nor the exterior colour). We left the dealership and went to the BMW Infinity cars dealership (which was on our way back home) in search of a Tanzanite Blue or a Sunset Orange shade, but to our surprise, they had a car in stock (from lot 1) in the same Dravit Grey shade. This time, we liked the colour to our surprise, maybe due to the bright lights of the showroom or the car being very clean compared to the test drive car. Overall, came back with a confused state of mind - an amazing car to drive, but with ordinary looks.

Ford Mustang GT- We straight away headed to Big Boy Toyz, Gurgaon to have a look at a 2017 Black Mustang and oh boy, what an eye-catching machine it was. The car was shining crazy in that black shade and we also got to hear the Borla exhaust note which had a good roar. I was adoring the car but yet of the doubt that this car is still an impractical vehicle to own (strictly a 2 seater due to my tall height). The interiors weren't of great quality either, though the car felt absolutely new.

We came back home and were in a confused state of mind as to what car should it be. I wish to keep this car for at least 5 years and want it to be a reliable vehicle. We do not wish to extend our budget. All your suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

At your age, I will definitely choose the muscle for the following reasons
1. Head-turning looks (even though looks are subjective).
2. This is the age to experiment with our likes and dislikes, character and other things of an automobile.
3. At this age, I want more of the SELF SKILL that drives the car than all the so-called techs to aid me to do the job.
4. The insane muscle power and the intimidating growling sound of the V8.
5. It's a two-seater - You have all your life to choose comfort and tech over character and looks.

Yes, the Bimmer is way ahead in terms of tech/features, performance, handling, practicality, resale, etc.

But given your age, I am least bothered about all these pre-conditions - I just want to enjoy my toy and make a statement. Please note that Mustang is so bad at all. It still performs, handles well.

The only catch here (in India) is our ASS and support which I think is definitely a deal-breaker. So make sure about the following
1. A good deal
2. Proper records and fact-checking done (I have no idea about BBT)
3. A good service support

Re: BMW M340i vs a pre-owned Ford Mustang GT

I had a similar dilemma in 2011. I went to the Skoda showroom to check out the Laura. Fortunately I sat in the Superb and immediately fell in love with the car soft touch nappa leather better sound system and the whole Jing bang. Now that I was ready to buy the superb at a price of 28 Lakhs, I had several options of getting sparingly used BMW 650i. V8 power, comfortable for our roads not edgy like most sports cars and I had a crush on it as soon as I first saw it in 2007.
Eventually I bought the superb because this was going to be a first big purchase for me and my family and I wanted everyone to have fun in it. Ended up driving the car for 1 lakh kms and did several memorable road trips with friends and family on that mile munching machine. But even till today I question myself what if I had bought the 650i and trust me I still want to buy one from the older generation.
So if I were you I would buy the Mustang with my eyes closed, if you already have other sedans and suv's in the house. Don't think from the head, for you it's time to think from your heart. Enjoy the ride my friend.

I'd like to thank every BHPian who advised and helped me with my purchase. I finally bought my BMW M340i a week back. The run-in period is a difficult task after all but I'm loving the machine. Here's a sneak peek!

Congratulations on the BEAST! She's beautiful. This colour looks the best IMO! Wish you many happy and safe miles! Now you HAVE to start an ownership report. Waiting for more pics.

With your username as M-TownBeast, I believe it was pretty much decided what your heart wanted; the BMW!

Congratulations on your 340i, it’s a fabulous car, wishing you lakhs of happy kilometres. If I was in the market for a sedan at this price range it would either be the 340i or the 530d (a really tough choice though).

Ohh yes the run-in period is very tough task to complete, I am still stuck at 120kms with my X3.

Congratulations! I'm very curios to hear about your experience. Is this a daily driver? Or are we looking at a weekend supercar?

Thank you, everyone, for the good wishes and I'll try my best to write an ownership report. I have been keeping a little busy after buying the machine and haven't been able to go for a long ride yet. City drives have been pretty good and I'm using the car almost daily (except when it's raining). The run-in period is still on and it would take me one more month to complete the same and redline the machine. I'm in absolute love with the machine and just can't stop adoring it. Though the only negatives which were already expected are -
(A) The ride quality is quite firm for the passengers (though I, being the driver, love the stiff and composed ride that the car offers).
(B) The ground clearance is an issue as my city has these uneven speed breakers.
(C)Also, the thigh support mechanism on both the front seats isn't working since the car was delivered and I'd need to visit the workshop in Gurgaon for the same to be rectified.

But the positives are in immense amount and every time I drive this machine, it brings a huge smile to my face.
