3. As far as I know, my mechanic doesn't have an OBD. So far to be honest, i haven't seen any trouble with my workshop without OBD.

Hi Ace,

My Civic will be completing 4 years soon and will be out of warranty. I want to know where you get it serviced/repaired? I am in Gurgaon so anyplace in NCR works for me.

Nicely done! how is the dampening on the doors? Any sign of rattling? The leather cover for the gear knob looks cool. It looks like the real genuine Type R one.

Been thinking about sub plus amp for a long time, how much did you get them for?
Thanks! About prices, the sensitive part of the whole deal, huh!

Since crubbing the total bill amount was one of my internal objectives, I went pre-worshipped way for a few items. Here are the prices of the total deal.

- Front Speakers: Pre-owned, got these for INR 11000 (Brand new's price: 20000). The user had them for 2 weeks and then moved on to Hertz MLK. I got almost new speakers for half the price.

- Rear Speakers: Brand New, costed me 9000.

- Headunit: Brand New, costed me 25500.

- Amplifier: Pre-owned, got it for 20000 (Brand new's price when bought: 48800, isn't available in market now).

- Subwoofer: Pre-owned, got it for 20000 with enclosure & grill from fellow BHPian Sumit Bahl (Brand new's price when bought: 40000).

- Power Cable: Brand New, costed me 3400.

- Speaker Cables: Brand New, costed me 1800.

- RCAs: Brand New, costed me 2800.

- Damping: Brand New, costed me 7000. Thanks to BHPian Safari Beast!

- Civic Dash Trim Kit: Brand New, costed me 3500.

- ABS Plastic Tweeter Pods: Brand New, costed me 3000.

- Water Guards: Brand New, costed me 400.

- Amp Board: Brand New, costed me 1500.

- Installation Charges: 3000.

In btw:- Looks like I am swapping my car with yours for the month of August..
Thanks Gaurav! The system indeed sound great. I am not into SPL, so better SQ was one of the objectives. Hence the item selection!

This just doesn't look like that to me.

Vineet, I was introduced to this mechanic by BHPian Gaurav Chopra. His name is Raju, is available at 9811241450 and he is in Gol Market near Connaught Place. Great guy, highly recommended!

Thats the whole purpose of damping, sir. To get rid of rattling. Front doors are well done, although the sub makes rear parcel tray vibrate a little sometimes. Need to get rear doors and boot damped.

Similar leather cover for your car is with me! Lets meet up and I will hand it over to you.

Yep, it is detachable. Has its own side of advantages and disadvantages.

Advantage: It saves you from the hassle and worries of your stearo HU being stolen as you can take it out without a jiffy and carry it with you or hide it away in car itself.

Disadvantage: Because the facia is detachable, it sits about a cm above the slot. Doesn't look as cool, well integrated or OEM types as Pioneer 4250 and likes (the one that GTO has).

re: My Grey Shark: Honda Civic V-MT. 134,000+ kms crunched & counting!

The car's odo is inching close to 85k and shark remains such a joy to drive. I have taken down my front headlamps. I was having trouble with RHS projector setup. The wire coming from Ballast to the HID was shorting and the HID bulb was giving up. I tried solving the issue many times but it returned after a few days.

Now, I have taken the lights down, I will prepare them from scratch with a newer design. In the mean time, fellow BHPian iTNerd has kindly given away his stock lamps to me. These are from facelifted Civic, fit perfectly and look quite good. I have upgraded the stock 55W bulbs with 80W Phillips ones.

Pics from today morning drive from home to Delhi.

You will most likely not need many spare parts for your car, that's the beauty of owning a Honda. All I have bought so far are engine mounts and one front fog light. These items were bought from Kashmere Gate and Karol Baagh Market. Regular consumables e.g. engine oil, brake pads are also sourced from Karol Baagh only.

Hey Ace !
Here after a long time. And must say Shark looks delectable as it adds on the miles on the odo. Compliments.

I for one feel that the real joy of owning and driving a vehicle increases as the vehicle ages and you get to know all its behaviour/s and capabilities. And as it ages along with you - the pleasure only grows.

And to my eye it's a pleasure to behold old (not that Shark is...!), well maintained old vehicles like Toyota Qualis/ Scorpios/and other SUVs.

Have fun and wishing you and shark a long life of togetherness !

I checked upon it Sumeet, unfortunately couldn't find any info on oil grade. The people in Aftermarket stores call it Castrol Manual Transmission Fluid (the oil is different from what they use in Auto Transmission).

Called up my guy at local Honda dealership to know the grade, similar story. They simply call it Honda MTF!

Thank you General for the compliments, long time no see! Or actually that might be from my side since I don't find time to log in here very often!

Agree on old vehicle part, although the shark is still a todller compared to some stories that we have here onboard! I was torn earlier to keep the car or change, but now I have made up my mind to keep the shark for a long time to come. So, expect the updates to keep coming.

Shankar

The part is as mentioned on the sticker, Centre console's front panel assembly. Basically one of the many cubby hole pieces that Civic has.

PS: I am wearing a citizen ecodrive watch. Bought it from an air show site in Washington in 2009. It's a Blue Angel's special edition. Below is a close up pic of the dial.
