Re: My Palio MJD 1.3 SDX - Initial ownership report

^ Are these alloys available everywhere in India. I like the way the alloys look on your car. I also like the alloys on ByDesign's car. My Palio is due very shortly.

I would want to see both the HRS and Veloche alloys for real once and decide on which one to go. The hub centric rings, can I be sure the alloy wheel dealer would know about it?

I intend to install the R14 Michelin XM1 on my Palio too. Any idea what would be the MRP of the stock tire and what price approximately they may buy back?

Also, do you think anti-rust treatment is necessary?

What Auto cop suits the Palio best?

Have you installed any sun film on your Palio? I want to install including the windshield that cuts the heat and glare too.

Are the spoilers available for Palio?

Since you are looking at so many accessories, I suggest you check out with Bubby for the Pete's box that he has for his MJD but is not using it. The difference after installing the box has to be seen to be believed, and you are getting it much cheaper than the market.

I may not go for the Pete's and K&N for atleast 20k kms. The rest of the accessories are definitely on. I have already finished the ICE, cooling papers, and remote locking. Please have a look at my ownership thread that I have started. I have not updated about the additional accessories, I should do it in a couple of days though.

Hi funkykar, sorry, for the late response.

I believe Veloche should be available everywhere. I'm seeing it almost everywhere in Coimbatore and Chennai. Regarding hub-centric rings, inquire your wheel/tire dealer, if he is not aware, then please do PM me or vigneshram, we can help you on that.

Not sure on the MRP of the stock tire, you can expect around 1250 per tire for buy back.

I have never done any anti-rust treatment for any of my car and I have never had any issues. It is up to you to decide on them. Similarly, I have not installed any remote locking for any of my FIAT's!

Regarding sun film, you can consider 3M. I'll vouch for them. I do not think that the spoilers are available for the stile.

Re: My Palio MJD 1.3 SDX - Initial ownership report

The MJD has just completed 7500kms. The second free service was done on the 11th of December at 5800 kms as it had reached the 6 months mark. For the Palio the second service is at 7500kms or 6 months.

Did the service at Gem Motors in Coimbatore. It was a pretty good experience. No pick up and drop from them this time around as they were short on drivers for the same.

Was charged Rs.2769 for the service. The break up is:

Oil Filter - 397.33
Eng Oil - Selena 4L- 2064
Vat @ 12.5% - 307.67

Since selena was used, I believe I need to skip the oil change at the 3rd free service.

I did a Coimbatore-Dharapuram-Madurai-Tuticorin-Tiruchendur-Coimbatore drive on Dec29. It was 410 kms one way. The roads were a mix from very good to very bad. Especially the Tuticorin-Tiruchendur was pathetic to say the least.

The return journey was Tiruchendur-Tirunelveli-Madurai-Pilliarpatty-Dindigul-Dharapuram-Coimbatore. This time it was the Pilliarpatti-Dindigul route that was mediocre, other than that, the roads were good. The return journey was over 550 kms and it involved quite a lot of crawling through madurai traffic.

Overall it was a wonderful drive and all I can say is that the MJD rocks!.

Oh! I almost forgot, amidst spirited driving on the highway, along some pathetic roads and heavy city traffic, the beast did manage to deliver 20.1kmpl along the entire drive.

Re: My Palio MJD 1.3 SDX - Initial ownership report

Folks, I have taken charge of the Palio MJD from my dad, the reason, yet another FIAT has joined the family. Yes, my dad has bought a Linea MJD!

So I parted ways with my Sparky and bought the Palio to chennai. Just arrived in the Palio last night. It was an amazing drive, my best till date. Took the following route:

Coimbatore-Avinashi-Salem-Krishnagiri-Vellore-Chennai, a total of 542 kms.

Since the road widening works are in progress between Coimbatore and Avinashi, the traffic there was very heavy and had to constantly downshift. Then from Chengapalli onwards, the roads are all four lane and the Palio was in a league of its own, but still traffic was a bit on the heavier side with trucks swaying across lanes, but once I crossed Salem, the traffic was dense and had one of my best drives ever. Clocking 120 was effortless and in few open stretches after Krishnagiri, I even managed to reach 140 with the car rock solid!

The complete journey took about 7.5 hours with a single break of 30 mins for lunch. Now, coming to the important factor, the FE, I filled up in coimbatore before starting and again filled up in Chennai with 542 on the trip, all the beast could take was just 25.2 litres of Diesel, which works out to 21.5

The car has now clocked 9560 kms on the odo. Overall, an amazing drive and a wonderful machine to boast about

My MJD along with its big brother at home:

Re: My Palio MJD 1.3 SDX - Initial ownership report

h14,

Congrats, that is a great news - Another MJD joining your garage

Yeah I agree that Palio MJD is a wonderful Car.

I too got a Palio under the Dhamaka scheme. Got the car in November and the 3rd service (15k) was done last Thursday. All I can say is that this Car is just a gem, it just loves highways and the solidity is just amazing

I am still on stock tires and I'm sure that once I change it would definitely get better on the handling front.

Regards
Lloyd

Thanks Lloyd, I have alloys in only one of the Palio's while the other one runs on the stock rim and tires. Believe me, there is a lot of difference when you switch to better rubbers. The car feels very different and rides better.

Re: My Palio MJD 1.3 SDX - Initial ownership report

Just did the first tankful today after driving around for a month in Chennai city. Got an excellent 16.7kmpl. It includes driving in city with AC on all the time. The car has been wonderful except for few scratches and dents, thanks to Chennai city traffic and some new learners in my office parking lot.

Overall, the car has clocked 10,213 kms on the ODO.

Re: My Palio MJD 1.3 SDX - Initial ownership report

H14, I've been seeing your car in ECR in nights very often. I drive a Red Punto(TN-7086) and have overtook you a couple times. You drive at a safe speed, you stick to a lane, use low beams unless you want to overtake somebody, your car is well maintained - some of my observations :o)

Next time, if you see my car, pls stop by. We can have a li'l chit chat.

Re: My Palio MJD 1.3 SDX - Initial ownership report

15,000 kms update

My MJD has now crossed 15000 kms and is now over 1 yr old. The car has been fabulous throughout without any hassles except for the clutch slave cylinder needing replacement, which was done under warranty.

FE
The car has been constantly delivering around 17kmpl in city driving with 100% AC.

I did the 3rd free service at Concorde Motors ECR on the 9th of June. Additional to the regular servicing, I did the engine flush and also the radiator flush. Overall, I would say that I was very happy with the service rendered by ECR Concorde both for the service and also for the Slave cylinder replacement, which was done few weeks back. Actually, they exceeded my expectations on both occasions.

Also did a Chennai-Valparai-Chennai drive in 2 FIAT's. The details are in here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...-valparai.html

Below are details of the Bill:

Third Free Service:

Fiat Palio MJD - Ownership log @ 75,000 kms-3rd-free-service.jpg

Clutch Slave Cylinder Replacement

Fiat Palio MJD - Ownership log @ 75,000 kms-slave-cylinder.jpg

The MJD continues to rock except for few scratches on it.

re: Fiat Palio MJD - Ownership log @ 75,000 kms

Hey, congrats on the 15000kms.

I have a few questions here:
1) Does the MJD come with semi synthetic or fully synthetic oil? If one has to move to fully synthetic, whats the procedure? and if I am not wrong, fully synthetic oil lasts for 2 intervals, that is 15k kms right? If we move to synthetic, would there be any warranty issues?

2) Why did you opt to flush the engine? Any benefits?
3) Coolant flush, is it necessary so early?

Cheers and happy driving!
