You guys are so impatient!

I applied for my bike's duplicate RC in April. Still haven't got it. August applications please step aside, there's a lot of backlog to be cleared .

There is talk that this total Tughlaq-style idea of centralized RC printing and despatching via speed post (remember it was done to ensure that folks use their correct addresses on the RCs) might be trashed and we'll go back to the stone ages.

@Avi: I don't mind them doing up the roads first with the huge road taxes we're paying. The RCs can wait.

This is absolutely sad state of our (RTA) affairs. They collect huge road tax and other fees from us and we have to go through all these inconvenience.

OT : One fella next to me is running behind the RTA since March'10 and he still hasnt received his RC card. Today, he was told to go to other branch office as it "may" have arrived there. He was practically in tears. Really sad !

Guys, this backlog was there in April itself. I'd applied for removing my car's hypothecation around mid-April and though I was told it would be couriered to me in 2 weeks, nothing happened for nearly a month. My son had to take the counterfoil and visit them 3 times---on the first time he was told to give them a xerox of the green counterfoil and to come before 12 noon on the following day. On the following day, they were closed owing to a bandh called by Telengana activists.

It was only on the 3rd visit that they traced out the RC card and handed it over to him. Looks like the Govt pocketed the courier charges.

Finally, the good deed is done. After browsing through a lot of shades and material quality. Selected the dark brown as the one that will adorn the insides of my white annihilator.

About 8 Sq.Mts of material bought and currently running behind the master implementor who is refusing to take or return my call.

This gentleman is the official art seat leather cover provider to almost all the car showrooms in Hyderabad. He has a large facility with alteast 20-25 people working constantly to deliver on his promises made to showrooms.

From what i know him in the past, he has come a long way.

P.S: Hope to get my interiors done by end of this week if everything goes well.

I popped into Stanley in JH yesterday. Their lowest price offering is the one with art-leather for the back of the seats and natural leather in 'classic' range (cheapest natural leather they have). This costs a little over 20K. Full natural leather starts above 30K and 'Nappa' costs about 43K. The seats with heavy duty 'Scandanavian' leather cost about 50K. They throw in the door pads as well for the above prices.

Other good leather stuff is Baron and Ovion. Both can be sourced via New Mars.

Posting here so Avi has it on hand when he does move to natural leather.

BTW what happened to re-configuring the ECU to enable the features disabled in the LT?

We have found the best ICE installer in town. He is also great at finding faults in installations and rectifying them. Comes highly recommended but with a caveat - you run the risk of having coal-dust all over your cabin!!

LOL - that is right. Arun just proved his capabilities by setting right the ICE installation in Prabhu's i20. That install was a total mess with wires and connections being all jumbled up and our man fixed it. All that remains is to clear out some niggling issues and tune the set-up.

Why?

Pardon me if this is some Hyd TBHP parlance which I'm unable to get because I've never been on one of the meets so far :(.

(In fact it looks like I might have to miss the one on 25th too as I'm going to have host some folks at home the full day almost.)

Seems to be intriguing stuff and I'd like to get some knowledge from him, especially regarding what best to do with all the spare ICE components left over from the old car.

Yesterday, did the 75kms stretch from home to airport again via. the PVNR expressway and since it was afternoon and it was raining continously and with almost zilch traffic, i was able to touch nice speeds on that expressway.

I must tell this again, the grip of those tyres are so amazing, it is as if i am driving on absolutely dry tarmac.

Thanks. The work is almost (99%) completed and i am priveliged to receive doorstep service.

Yesterday afternoon 2 guys came to my home on a bike and removed rear and front passenger seat and took it back to their workshop to work upon them. I paid their workshop a brief visit in evening to look at the sample fitting and then OK'd it for rest of the seats.

Ghouse bhai who owns the place has employed 45 workers and churns out close to 30 seat-covers a day ( cutting, stiching and fitting included) and as mentioned before all car showrooms place orders with him

Despite me not being home last evening, they came at 10:30pm and worked in my parking lot till almost midnight and called me to confirm they completed the work.

I came home around 2AM and was excited to see the deliverables. Was slightly aghast to see they did an excellent job but, forgot to work on the front handrest. Need to get that portion fixed tomorrow ( will take pictures once this little piece of work is completed).

Considering the dead cheap cost of this exercise, the fitting came out pretty decent with special attention paid to tight fitting and double stitching.

In summary, i am quite pleased to see the output. Will let the pictures speak after remaining 1% work is completed.

Did another run to airport this morning. The distance covered from Home->Airport-> Office was approximately 75kms.

Today, for the first time the white annihilator has put a super wide grin on my face and this was due to being the first opportunity that i got to really open up this beastly engine since i bought this car.

If i can compare WA to a bollywood star, then it would be none other than our own macho "Deadly Dutt"

While going to the airport, again took the bumpy and curvy PVNR expresseway and touched some humble speeds as there is always zero traffic on that expressway

After dropping my family at the airport, the real bliss started. Took the ORR towards Gachibowli and was hugely suprised that it has now become a straight long road 4-lane expressway and not the many diversions that it used to be before with visibility of more than 3-4kms. I guess i have not ventured on ORR for sometime now.

As the roads were entirely empty and the inviting width of a 4-lane and added bonus being those long straights with no traffic enabled it to touch a decent speed

Some facts :-

1. Cruze reaches good speeds with such ease it is really a marvel. Its like even before you know it it reaches this speed. However, after this point, you need to slightly push the pedal to inch slowly but steadily forward. I mean there is no need of "standing on the gas pedal" type of pressure but, a gentle and firm push is required.

2. I cannot help but, marvel at the CPC2 yet again. The sound inside the cabin at those speeds is zilch. There is a ghastly silence inside ( I switched off the music system as didnt want any distractions)

3. Steering felt beautifully weighted and there was absolutely no twitching or jerking that generally happens with most EPS steering wheels. It was rock solid personify.

All said and done, i loved pushing WA today more on the curvy approach road near hyderabad airport than the straights of ORR. Anyways, with power comes responsibility and I would not like to repeat this feat unless i know its completely safe

Somehow I've always found heavy (and slow-moving) traffic on PVNR.

While the ORR is also free, perhaps it's a function of the time I've travelled on it that I usually find some construction activity (including construction trucks taking sudden U-turns and driving on the opposite side), slow-moving people carriers, motorcycles and folks running across the road. So crossing 160 kmph becomes dangerous (touched that limit twice before I had to back off due to traffic).

These are the best roads in Hyderabad. Not so long ago it used to be the "ring road" around KBR park (LVPEI <-> JH Check post <-> Apollo route), but now that's become too busy.

Prashant, i agree with you. ORR is like autobahn or something similar. Real marvel and proud that its part of our city.

But, i am a fan of twisties and driving around KBR would still be more fun.
