Update on wax.

A couple of rainshowers later the effect of the Motomax wax has now faded back to previous state. Amit_mechengg was correct, this polish does not last. It's very frustrating since i put in a lot of effort to wax the car. Time to try Turtle wax.

Here is the here to nice thread by Rudra Sir about car detailing

And results are good as compared to Waxpol. At least it is easier to remove. And gloss is also deep. But do not know how long it will last.

Thanks for the info download2live.

Dealing with Tata-Fiat staff is a really frustrating job, reminds me the saying "It's like fighting with a pig. While you get dirty and the pig enjoys it.". Even i have stopped participating in Fiat's feedback calls, that's a pure of waste of 20 minutes.

Those who say shooting a mail to CEO is the best way to get heard, i have already done so multiple times, they did not even bother to send me a reply.

Even a slightest thought of something going wrong in my Punto or an accident sends a chill to my spine, i will have fight a battle get my car fixed. Just like what fellow BHPian hrsraghav experienced here (Car (FIAT Adventure) standing since 4.5 months, waiting spares to get repaired.). The good part is my Punto does not have any serious issues(touchwood), its just the seats which are misfitted, the plastics which look like 25years old and countless misfitted parts with gaps good enough to be used as storage space.

Hey Anshuman - I liked the review and also liked how you've maintained the car, I am almost certain that I'm picking up the Punto 1.4Emotion Pack. I have also read through all the 6 pages of the comments and the bashing on the Tata Fiat After Sales Service however, I am based in Pune and have seen no issues (other than ofcourse the cost of the parts) especially since I currently own a Palio. Maybe like a few of the members said it may be localized to certain dealers in certain cities. One thing that I have noticed with my palio is (not sure if that's the case with others as well) is they won't repair the problem, they will replace the entire part - which means if it can cost 300Rs to fix the problem they'll charge 3000 to change the part completely.

Now, Questions -
The last response to the thread was 30th Aug, have you or anyone heard or come across any new known issues ?

The dealer confirmed that the suspension and AC were issues and have been rectified in the subsequent batches - Is this True?

I listed all the issues i have seen in this thread(and some of them in Initial ownership thread). None of them are major issues, all of them are irritants.

I have not faced any issues with Suspension and AC. Though my friend has had issues with squeaking suspension and noisy AC, both of the issues were sorted out.

Overall Punto is a very good car, only issues are poor Quality of certain components and After sales support. If you know a good Tata-Fiat ASC, go buy a Punto with your eyes closed.

That sounds scary. As it is - I hate conflicts and have less tolerance to them. I loved Punto, and now seriously considering it again after 1 year but frequent niggles/minor issues would annoy me a lot. I can perhaps live with shortcomings (like lack of ACC or Alloys), but if get something - I want it to be reliable and last longer. I don't want interior of my car to look decade old when it is just 1 year old. Confused now...if not Punto, then what???? Figo seems to be similar story as well! :(

Manish, this could be one odd case with Anshuman, my friend has punto its more than one year old, not a single problem with plastic quality and still looks as good as new. And they say 2010 has better plastic quality, why dont you give a visit to Fiat Dealer in your city to check the same.

I have two colleagues who've owned Puntos for an year now.

Black MJD E+: This car has done hardly 8K and is left standing (at home, not the service station) most of the time. The main issues faced are:
1. ABS/Airbag malfunction light is lit: The TASS says it's because rats cut some wires from/to the sensors and has refused to correct the problem under warranty (I'm not exactly sure if it was the Airbag or ABS).
2. Wiper motor malfunction: Was replaced under warranty, but she had to wait two weeks to get the spare parts.

Red MJD Emotion: This car has done close to 26K. The owner is very happy with it. As far as I know, the car has not visited the service station except for 3K and 15K service.

See i know at least 3 Puntos, out of which 2 are more than 1 years old and one is more than 6 months old, never faced any problems, and about the support i think both Pandit and B U Bhandari are really good in Pune, last week when my Palio Tail lamp broke, i went to our local Tata Fiat Dealer and that part was not available, but then They took my number and ordered the part and to my surprise, that part arrived in next 2-3 days and got a call from them. and the best surprise the cost was only 850 Rs for Palio Tail light old model. So i think Fiat is trying hard to improve their image.

Very True. Punto will complete one year with me March next year.
Here is what the story is like till now:
1. The car was delivered with a squeaky right rear wheel. Not the left wheel thud which is due to design. I called the Concorde guys. They picked the car. Was informed that the rear right shocker will be replaced. Got the car that same day at 7 in evening.

2. Car left side got bashed by a truck. The left wheel arch took a beating. The car was given. Went to workshop. They took two more days than promised but the work and paint finish was immaculate.

3. Broke the rear bumper reversing light. They fixed it.

4. The windscreen plastic cladding at the base of windscreen has become loose. But TATA guys said its fine. Wont effect performance.

And thats about it.

OT: Lets stop fighting guys.

Some Pictures.

My Punto has done close to 27,000kms now. The car has been performing as expected without any new issues except some very minor niggles. Posting some new Pictures.

Hi D2L, first of all, pull the two levers forward to fold the seats forwards like every car.
Now, you will notice that at both the ends of the seat, there is a notch like thing that holds the seats and you need to disengage the rear seat to double fold it.
Hard to explain but this is a crude method to explain. In the first pic, you can see a human bone and this is its top end and exactly how that hinge looks like.
The second pic shows where to look for it.

I will post proper pics tomorrow.

@Mods- Sorry, if pic of anything not related to automobiles is not allowed. Kindly delete it in that case.
