I was told that the fuel filter is also changed at 15k. May be its for Petrol, but usually, the intervals are larger for pertol than diesel.

Sometimes, steering was slightly pulling towards left - I wanted to get this checked.

Have checked this in 2-3 cars including mine, but fortunately, theres no uneven tyre wear, so I thought its ok.

Top 2 lines of the rear de-fogger was not functioning - I wanted to get this checked.

Did they put it right. I was under impression that you have to change the glass if any of these lines stop working, I may be wrong though.

Day/Night rear view mirror - Whenever I change the mirror from Day View to Night View, The field of view also used to change. This had to be corrected every time. I wanted to get this checked.

Thats in all Polos again. Any tips if it can be put right.

Rs.450 for VAG-COM analysis of the engine!

All companys do charge this in one way or the other, but then you had the AMC, good that you took it up. There are people who dont and thats why these service station keep ripping customers.

(They mentioned that they were charging for the VGA-COM analysis, since they would send the report to Germany!! - I felt like asking them, if they were hand carrying the report to Germany!! - Otherwise, it takes only a rupee to e-mail it.)

Porky stories to cash customers mate!

By now, my car was in the service bay & was literally taken care. Excellent I should say. 3/4 guys were on the job simultaneously and almost 50% of the work was done. I can stand by-them and say that they are efficient and their work-integrity is top notch.

Good to know that they are fast. The VW west delhi people are too slow. Also, it would have felt so nice to stand by you car and see it getting serviced. Most of the dealerships dont allow this. Great again!
Result:

Most of the major things have been done to my satisfaction. I am not sure about point #6. I forgot to ask them. I did not get an opportunity to check point #4 & 5.

Ok

Car has become smoother now. One drive made me forget about all the wrong things that happened today at the dealership!

Must be mate, new oil to engine after 14k kms.

Service Bill:

Engine oil ------------ Rs. 3,312
Oil Filter ------------- Rs. 325
Air Filter ------------- Rs. 508
A/C Filter ------------ Rs. 588 (Pollen filter)
Drain nut ------------ Rs. 45 (Replaced with every oil change!)
Paid service --------- Rs. 1,600
--------------------------------
Total ---------------- Rs. 7,188 (Including tax)
--------------------------------
Rates look cool for a diesel. for non AMC customers, we add 600 and 450 for consumables and VAG-COM, also some extra for alignment and balancing. what was the status of same in your case?

Allow me to add to it. 28k for cedia foglights.

Polo alloy wheel rates have come down though to 25k for a set of 4 from a whopping 80k.

Manual mentions an interval of 30,000 Kms to change Fuel filter. Can you check your manual and let me know (since you own a petrol Polo)? This was surprising to me too.

I agree with you. I do not think there is any-thing that can be done at the dealer's level to sort out this problem. Looks like the EPS is not centered - And nothing to do with any mechanical alignment, as would have been the case with HAPS.

I am yet to check this. But as you said, if there is a problem, entire glass needs to be changed. I am not very concerned about this. Just thought of mentioning this during service, since the problem existed. I will try to take a snap and post it, if I see the problem again.

Only remedy is to change the mirror I suppose. This is a common problem in Vento also I suppose. Again - not really concerned.

Ok

Will try and post details after a couple of days. I hope it rains in Bangalore!

I agree with you. Expenses are nothing to be really concerned about. In my case, alignment was not necessary. In fact, I was told that VW cars do not require alignment unless it meets with an accident. I do not know how far that is true. For this reason alone, they may charge me extra for doing it.

Balancing was being charged at Rs.350 for labor + cost of sticker weights, total estimated to be more than Rs.1000. I did not get it done as I wanted some time to think. Everything happened so fast....

I can get the wheel balancing done outside also. What do you think?

Fog lamps for JAZZ must be costing less then 10K? Any idea? But any-way, 14K is worth spending I suppose. It can help in Ghat section.

Thanks for your comments. My replays are underlined!

@Chethan, @nowwhat - Upgraded my Polo stock lamps for Philips Xtra Power. Noticing a good benefit already. Costed me 1200 (the listed MRP); installation included. I was also offered Osram Nightbreaker (costs 1800 for the pair), but I chose Philips as recommended on this forum.

Will be looking out for a stereo upgrade sometime in the near future now.

Will check it when I get the car back, for now its been put on VAG-COM analysis and I will get the report in the evening or tomorrow. I havent driven the car for a few days now but the advisor has just reported more than usual vibration in the engine. My brother though didnt report anything as such. Fingers crossed for the time being.

Exactly, but wonder why is it only occasionally that this happens.

Your car is under warranty, even if the glass is to be changed, why wot ask VW to do it.

haha. Porky stories you know.

WOW. 1K for alignment and balancing, I'd be better of buying a pre owned accord and maintain it and it ll still be more cost effective (provided its filled by someone else)

I can get the wheel balancing done outside also. What do you think?

Balancing can certainly be done at any good tyre shop. Not the alignment though, until the tyre shop has updated its software with polo's suspension details.

Fog lights do have an important role to play, not only is it effective during fog, but also during night highway trips with less lighting, the fog lights make sure that you see the divider on the right properly. Also as you said, they will also be useful in ghats section.

no idea about jazz's foglights but they should be more than 15k considering city and civic's foglights prices.

I see your point Jesal. I do not think that we need to be unduly worried about VW. Basically there are 4 aspects related to service:
  1. Work Ethics & Integrity - No problems with VW & its dealers.
  2. Organizational skills - Both of them lack it to a certain extent.
  3. Competency - Depends on our expectations. Generally OK.
  4. Pricing - Generally OK. Policies should be more Customer centric, for it to be appealing to the mass market.
Once these things are understood, we can work around and make sure that our needs are met. More importantly, people in VW are not arrogant. This is one quality I like the most.

Critical info needed:

Is VW POLO AMC applicable only for petrol POLO's?

I checked with EVM VW(Kerala) & Downtown VW(Bangalore)
they said its only for petrol POLO's.
Downtown folks told me that talks have been initiated with VW to make
it applicable for DIESEL as well.

My POLO TDI is going to roll out in another 15 days. I thought of getting
AMC for mine. Now I am worried about that. If there is no AMC it might be an onslaught for my dreams.

Chethan mentioned about his AMC and he has a Polo Tdi (Diesel).

As far as I know, AMC is an offering from VW and not the dealer. However Chethan seems unsure about that point, i.e. whether service can be done under the AMC with another dealer.

Also I am of the understanding that you can take the AMC anytime before the service is due, of course as per prevalent rates. So you could perhaps wait for some time.

I argued with the sales person just keeping Chethan's AMC deal in mind.
I checked with VW Downtown as well and they are also saying its applicable only for Petrol.

@ Chethan : Please help me on this

I take back my words above.

There have been some developments, Chethan will perhaps talk about it.

My AMC contract was signed more then 3/4 months back. I had paid full amount for 4 years maintenance. I got my first service done yesterday. Now, today - I got a call from VW - Downtown and was told that the AMC does not exist for Polo - Tdi !!

I am yet to decide on my future course of action. Right now, I have asked the breaking-news to be given in writing! Will keep you guys updated. This is turning out to be a circus!!

By the way, Uvmallya - Do the VW guys know that they have sold you a Diesel - Polo? Just make sure. Otherwise, you may be in for another surprise!!!

Help on Alloys for Polo Trendline

Hi Chetan

I am getting delivery of Polo Trendline Petrol tomorrow. I want to upgrade the wheels and tyres to Polo highline specs. Can you help me with the exact specs of Polo 15 inch alloy wheels. I know that the tyres are 185/60 R15 size. Alloys seem to be of 5 hole, 100 PCD size. What about the offset? When I have enquired in the market, not many options are available.

You can look at my thread here.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-a...els-tyres.html

Dealer is quoting INR 17000 per stock alloy which is ridiculous.

thanks.

Hi Gkoneti - Congrats on your new car! Have a nice time. You can refer to the following post by Gaurav on this thread. A set of 4 has come down to 25K I suppose.

Just an update: Jazz fog lamps cost 15K

@Chethan- Thanks a lot for the suggestion. VW will surely not afford to forget that my car was a Trendline Diesel vehicle and it was a Turbocharger unit that had been replaced under warranty. In fact I am hoping to meet the VW top brass and talk to them about the problems faced by me when they come to Mangalore for the inauguration of their new dealership. If the AMC does not exist for the Polo - TDI, it could be a recent decision. I already have their confirmation for AMC in writing for my car.
