Mahindra Xylo - Running Report EDIT - 1 year 22600 Update

Hi, i have been a proud owner of E8 xylo wth ABS from 23rd sep 09 and have done numerous trips covering 13200kms till date. There are a few minor issues which I would mention and also would like to get the feedback if other xylo owners are facing the same.

Minor issues;

1) Glove box light does not go off
2) Brake booster changed in warranty bcoz of leak
3) EGR valve changed after excessive noise
4) If AC is on in LOW there is a lot of outside fumes/smoke entering the cabin - Would get this rectified at SKS Automobiles
5) If I switch the engine off and remove the key, in a few instances the audio does not get switch off - New problem

I am getting a FE of 11kmpl in city and 12kmpl on highways (With AC on). Getting excellent service from Venkat/Ramesh team from SKS Automobiles.

Just to add, a few trips done in Xylo since Sep;

1) Oct 09 (Bangalore - Hornadu - Kudremukh NP - Sringeri - Agumbe)
2) Oct 09 (Bangalore - Pondicherry - Nagapattinam - Rameshwaram - Kanyakumari)
3) Nov 09 (Bangalore - Kodaikanal)
4) Dec 09 (Bangalore - Sirsi - Goa - Ganapatipule - Kolhapur - Belgaum)
5) Jan 10 (Bangalore - Coorg)
6) Feb 10 (Bangalore - Ooty)

Nice small report. By the way in this short span of time you have covered many places. I think you had stocked all these places and when you bought XYLO you have unleashed the traveler in you. If this report has some snaps of your XYLo then it would have been great.

I suppose you cruise at higher speeds than 100kmph on the highways which is probably the reason for your mileage. If you bring your speeds down to approximately 80-100 kmph, it would improve.
For the small electrical issues like the glovebox light and the stereo not turning off, you could go to the ASC and get it rectified.

Good concise review and experience. Enjoy the ride.

Hey gautham ... a very nice and compact review
seriously if you would lower your average speeds you can even reach 16kmpl ..one of the mates in tb get this mileage

Can you please also post your cost of ownerships along with some more of snaps!!. in your snaps the beast looks really good!

A few more trips in Xylo..

March 2010 - Chikmagalur (700kms)
Apr 2010 - OOty Again (800kms)

Have done 16000kms till date in 7 months of ownerships.

Couple of strange problems have cropped up/Partially rectified.

1) Excessive noise from the engine (around 2000rpm) when the turbo kicks-in - Sorted out after the EGR valve got changed in 3rd free service

2) Braking noise - The brakes are making a hell of a lot of noise especially 20km/h to 0. This was complained and partially rectified. Again the noise has cropped up.

3) Driver Seat creaking noise has cropped up - Complained but not solved.

Otherwise the service and the costs have been really low during free service. Plus the oil change is only once in 15000kms !!

Interested to know if the other Xylo owners are facing similar troubles?
Xylo owners, please throw some light if you are facing these issues.

Has the above issues been resolved now? If you don't mind, pls share the solution for 5th one.

Gautham, I see your EGR valve has been changed twice under warranty, what was wrong with it?
