anyhow, here's a brief summary of the Rs. 21000 3rd Service I got done at Dynamic Motors, Chandigarh:

@Harpreet,

21k for the 3rd service seems to be on the higher side. I am scared also at this moment because no way can i afford this amount. Can you please give a break up of this amount i.e. what went under different heads.

@Vivekparmar awaiting @Harpreetkanwar's reply about why he replaced brake pads at 16500kms?

Refer my earlier post whereas I have said that he has replaced oil and brake pads at the same time hence the high cost. Which I feel is misleading to some prospective Cruze owners.

If I recall correctly it was about 43 K for both front and rear. Labor extra.

@sameer,

You are right. Looking at the breakup now it seems the major chunk is the brake pads. Rest is just about 5-6 K.

@ Sameer sultan

I agree, cost break up seems to be fair considering the fact that both the oil as well as the brake pads have been replaced. Once again I am in agreement to the fact that it's how you drive that matters. Considering the fact that you changed them at around 25000 Km and that too as per your admission that you drive fast, the brake pads must be of good quality otherwise they would have worn out much earlier..

Today I left my Cruze for the 30000KM 5th service.(Actually it should be 6th service, but I skipped the 25000KMS service as it is just a check up).

ODO Reading 29095KMS.

They are going to replace Engine Oil, Air and Oil Filter.

Cleaning the A/C vent.

Check the Suspension(I requested) and Tensioner Belt.

i have also asked to replace the Wiper Blades.

Rest will be the regular service with Water Wash.

I am getting the WindShield replaced as there was a minor crack due to a stone hit on the highway. It is being done under Insurance.

Estimated cost Rs.9,500/- for the 30000KMS Service.

Windshield cost is seperate. i will update once I come to know how much it would come upto.

Attaching a few under chasis pictures of the Cruze. It is not my car but another one which was on the Ramp Lift getting an inspection done at the service station.

How is the overall service response in chennai? From the threads, the expenses look ok to me - am I missing something?

re: Chevrolet Cruze LTZ - Ownership Report EDIT: SOLD after 115000 km!

Hi Sameer,
Just wanted to say that your review was excellent and was instrumental in my booking the Cruze LTZ AT.
I also read mobike008's review on the Cruze LT. That was when i first decided to buy/ look at the cruze and then after your review, I kind of stretched my budget.
Expecting the car on wednesday or thursday next week

@harpreet, I gave my Cruze for 15000km servicing and although never felt any problem with the brakes, the advisor asked me to replace the front brake pads and his estimate was 8000/-

Has the price increased so much in 6 months or am I missing something? I also cant deny because I may go for a long trip- sooner or later.

Please confirm so that I can talk to him tomorrow with more information before he actually replaces it.

Thanks...

re: Chevrolet Cruze LTZ - Ownership Report EDIT: SOLD after 115000 km!

@animdas Well yes -> It is confirmed that the Cruze brakepads run out soon. and I guess, its basically because of the fact that the car is fitted with a monstrous engine of an SUV (Captiva) and somehow the brakepads aren't that great quality. I mean dont get me wrong, they work just fine, but should last more. And you may think that you don't brake that often,, just take a moment to think about the high speed chases you put your vehicle to every morning while going to the office and then flooring the brake as soon as the Tata Ace in front of you becomes responsible for crashing your dream ! As far as the cost goes, I think the charge is way too high - 4-5k is the max (and fitting charges are 300-400)

I have actually more to add to this story -> Soon after changing my vehicle's brake pads in Chandigarh at the worst worst worst Dynamic Motors, I proceeded to my life in Gurgaon, and after just 100 - 200 kms or approximately 3-4 days, I again started noticing a screeching sound in my rear tyres.

Upon taking her to Apex Motors in Gurgaon I came to know that my rear disc brakes were also jammed and that the guys at Dynamic motors Chandigarh did not care enough to do any math why the brake pads ran out quickly,, after taking my car captive for almost 5-6 days and providing no replacement car, I was given new assemblies including brake pads for the rear tyres for free (only labour charges – 300-400 bucks)... this came under GM warranty --- but I still had to incur the initial loss at Dynamic motors ...

Now clubbing my fancy response I would like to point out the following:

1) Cruze's brakepad's have a short span of 16-22k on them

2) People who drive this monster at 60km/hr (cruel people) do not notice this cause they just have not been pushing the motor too much

3) If you have a heavy left foot - do not be alarmed that the brake pads dont have much kilometers on them

4) If you are getting these replaced, also make it a point to check whether the service centre is not made of dumb people who won't try to find out other problems causing this fast wear of the brake pad

5) So choose to service Cruze in a good service centre

6) The cost should not be more than 4-5k for front and 7-8k for rear (confirmed the prices again from Apex Auto in Gurgaon today)

We have another member who is now at 22k kms with his A/T Cruze and even during his 20K kms service his brake pads were announced by dealership as quite good.

Yup. If they drive this monster at 60kmph then they bought the wrong car. They should have probably bought a Dzire or something

Thanks for the confirmation. I am due for my 15K kms service next month. Already applied for a 10K personal loan in anticipation

1) I would like to meet and congratulate and be friends with that member since he/she is so damn lucky (God please I hope its a woman !!)
2) True -> Dzire would have just fit the bill
3) Yes right foot ... actually, a combination of both feet would do too ... you speed up fast, you break faster ! lol
4) Great futuristic planning here, I see a manager in you lol

I think those must be rear brake pads as they cost Rs 8000/- Front Brake Pads cost around Rs. 5000/- all inclusive(labour).

You may recheck with the dealer.

Probably he says as 'estimate'. The actual bill for front brake pads must come up to not more than 5K.

The service centre guys usually advice to replace front brake pads at 15K kms. You can avoid and drive another 5K kms before replacement. I did the same thing.

But if you are going on a long drive as you have mentioned it's better to replace as in the next service the rear pads also have to be replaced and if you got to club both front and rear the bill will work out to Rs. 13500/-
