HP Trip Update

Yesterday [7 September 2013], we checked out of Hotel Sapphire, Amritsar at 12:15 pm and started driving to Dalhousie. We reached Hotel Grand View, Dalhousie at 8:00 pm. I got the Wi-Fi connectivity now only in the hotel, and hence, the delay in updating.

My Linea safely brought us to The Bhagsu, HPTDC Hotel at McLeodganj, Himachal Pradesh at 4:45 pm today. Earlier, we checked out of Hotel Grand View, Dalhousie at 10:45 am. En route, I gave my Linea a grand Himalayan spring bath spending about an hour.

HP & UK Trip Update

We [me, wife and Linea] reached Hotel Padmini Niwas, Mussoorie, safely at 8:15 pm today. We left The Bhagsu, McLeodGanj HPTDC hotel, at 6:20 am. Although I dropped Zozilla from my itinerary, the Zozilla experience chased all the way to Mussoorie. While Padmini Niwas is situated on the top of a hillock, the access is by way of a steep, gravelly, narrow public road. I struggled a lot for about 15 minutes to take my Linea to the car parking. At a hairpin bend, the front wheels started spinning without grip. The boot of my Linea was facing a deep valley without parapet wall. We started getting burnt rubber smell! Finally, I steered the front wheels straight forward, did a few manoeuvres and finally parked my Linea at 8:30 pm!

Gosh! Glad you're all safe!

Is that road meant only for 4x4 vehicles then? If not, shouldn't they do something about it if they expect regular sedans to go to the hotel?

All the hill stations are like that. I experienced the same at Dalhousie too, where the hotel is located in one hillock and the car parking in another opposite hillock with steep access road! The owner of Padmini Niwas explained to me that it was a public thoroughfare belonging to the local administration, which was shared by many property owners. The other alternative is, I have to drive through the Mall Road by paying Name: rupeesymbol.gif

Size: 578 Bytes100 for one entry and exit with no entry/exit between 5 pm and 10 pm and bring it by another access road connected to Mall Road, which is supposed to be better. I will try that today.

HP, UK & RJ Trip Update

I checked all the oils and fluids today morning after breakfast. My Linea consumed about 500 ml of Selenia K engine oil after 4,400 km. I topped up windshield cleaning fluid too. The coolant level remained at the maximum level and did not require topping up. We will be checking out of Jaswant Bhawan in another coupla hours and driving towards Karni Mata temple famously known as the rat temple at Deshnok, some 30 km from Bikaner en route Mount Abu.

HP, UK & RJ Trip: Final Update

My Linea brought us home safely and comfortably at 7:10 pm today. Yesterday, we left Mount Abu by 1 pm. I took power naps and adequate breaks for food, fuel and rest. My Linea fully co-operated with me throughout this trip. She did not trouble me at all. No puncture; no tyre burst; no breakdowns; no visit to FIAT ASS; my Linea was not stopped anywhere by any cops or RTO.

J.Ravi sir, I am just speechless reading your travelogues. You are an inspiration for me. I have been reading all the details related to your expeditions and also your Linea ownership journey. This one deserves a separate travelogue as well. Looking forward to it. Keep rocking the road!
