How are things? Any recent mods/additions?
Everything is fine. No mods/additions envisaged in the near future.

Yes, the painting was done in a crude manner as they were mainly wheel alignment and balancing guys. But, it didn't spread to the adjoining parts.

What did you treat your Linea to on your birthday?
My Linea took us for a lavish Italian dinner at EurAsia at 7th Block, Jayanagar on 2 December 2011 as it was my actual birthday. But, my school's clerical staff added a zero to the date which was ignored by my parents, making 20 December as the official birthday!

Ravi Sir, belated birthday wishes on your actual birthday & official birthday. Your official birthday story brought a wide grin on my face. Couldn't stop comparing it with my better halves' birthday. She was officially born (as per the school register) on 13th June, but came in this world (physically) on 13th Aug.

Thanks, AutoIndian, for kind greetings. I wish the clerk made the mistake in the year so that the actual birthday remained unaltered!

I paid Rs 4,500 by cash. Otherwise, 13% VAT would apply additionally.
I was informed that the same 3D mats would fit Punto too!
Apologies for bumping up a very old post, but I notice that you bought 3D Kagu mats more than a year ago for your linea. How are they ageing? In retrospect, does 4.5k still seem worth it? Am planning to buy these for my Punto, and your views would help..

My Linea's 3D Kagu mats are fine. Fit as a fiddle.

Yes, 3D Kagu mats are costlier than their desi counterparts because they are imported. But, they are worth, IMO. I heave a sigh of relief: no more my footwear getting stuck with the floor mat.

Please go ahead. Now, you are getting them in beige too with different varieties.

Bangalore - Chennai

My Linea took us safely to our Chennai [Royapettah] home at 4:55 am today. Earlier, we left our Bangalore [Basaveswara Nagar] home at 11:40 pm last night.

After more than 6 years, this time I took Kolar route instead of via Hosur/Krishnagiri. I took a tea break at Muthukadai between Ranipet and Walajah.

Four lane stretch has been completed from Bangalore up to the start of Mulabagilu bypass. No toll was collected as still many works are pending like road furniture, signages, etc. Then, decent two lane road up to Walajah where it merges with 4 lane road.

The quality of NH 4 within Andhra Pradesh was excellent including the ghat section. Monsoon rains could not do any damage in this portion.

The recent monsoon did not spare even the 4 lane road. My Linea had to wade through sudden potholes, which were yet to be patched up. There were some bad stretches near Sriperumpudur and near Hyundai factory.

Chennai - Bangalore

Cara Mia FIAT Linea did Chennai [Vadapalani] to Bangalore [Basaveswara Nagar] last evening. Left the origin at 4:15 pm and reached the destination by 11:15 pm including one hour food/fuel break at HP COCO pump/Arya Bhavan at Pallikonda and half-hour coffee break at BP COCO pump/A2B at Chinnar. Crossing Porur junction was a breeze at 5 pm. I found more buildings being demolished and roads widened there.

28 months and 36500kms at a brisk average of ~1300kms per month.

So essentially you have now consumed the 1 lakh advantage of a petrol car...This is pretty fast.
Great going J.Ravi.

By the way, After 15 months my average also stands at ~1350kms per month now.

Good Safety kit. What is the use of the vest? Is it an inflatable vest (jacket) which can keep a person afloat on water (just in case) the car submerges? Also if you don't mind, can you take one more picture with the kit opened up, displaying clearly all of its contents?

Safety vest must be the orange/yellow overcoat with reflective stickers. They are like the ones our traffic policemen wear.
It increases your visibility to others in dark (in a situation where you are changing tyre at night).
If you see the pictures, in the picture of the box showing the contents, its written.
I don't think it will be the floating vest (I know you are thinking about the emergency vest provided in airplanes). If it is, then its too good.

J.Ravi can confirm.

No. It is an orange-coloured fluorescent reflective jacket as rightly explained by hemanth.anand.

Bangalore>Mysore>Bangalore

Yesterday, my Linea did Bangalore>Mysore>Bangalore as my grand daughter wanted to see Mysore zoo and Palace.
Cara Mia Fiat Linea! EDIT: 71,700 km and sold!-image0064.jpg
We left our Basaveswara Nagar home by 8:30 am, breakfasted at Kadambam on Bangalore-Mysore SH 17, visited Mysore zoo, lunched at Dasaprakash, Gandhi Square, visited Palace, enjoyed the coffee at Adiga's near Maddur and reached home by 9 pm.

Cara Mia Fiat Linea! EDIT: 71,700 km and sold!-image0067.jpg
The major irritant on SH 17 was the numerous speed-breakers aka humps, bumps, which grow at a rapid pace. Add the dense traffic, my Linea's FE goes for a toss.
Cara Mia Fiat Linea! EDIT: 71,700 km and sold!-image0065.jpg
My Linea had tankful of petrol costing Rs 73.50/litre at the newly opened Shell outlet at Kengeri Satellite Town ORR and got a surprise present of Sonax windshield shampoo concentrate.

re: Cara Mia Fiat Linea! EDIT: 71,700 km and sold!

Today, my Linea visited Concorde Motors, Mysore Road and got repaired FOC the faulty rear left window winder switch which got disconnected. The SA removed the switch, pulled back the wire, connected it to the switch, refitted the switch in its place and it worked.

The SA was aware of GC upgrade kit for Linea/Punto being discussed in FB. He said there were a lot of serious enquiries but they are yet to get official instructions from FIAT India regarding the modalities to be followed.
